Attendied the 5th Annual Advisory board Meeting of DSAS- the Cuyahoga County Department of Senior and Adult Services.

Listened to host Robin Svoboda lead the presentations from various providers ofsenior services in the area. NEO offers so many services for older adults. The challenge is learning about all the services and making the connections to determine eligibility and accessibility.

We are grateful for the opportunity to speak to the membership of WIN Cleveland this past week. While the outside was icy and dreadfully cold, the members of this organization gave us a terrifically warm welcome. Our topic was "The Greying of Northeast Ohio – the Impact on Women in Business". Carolyn Lookabill, senior advisor at Caring Services LLC was the presenter.

Did you know that the average caregiver is a 49-year-old female? She's likely working and may still have children in the home from toddler age through college years. With the impact of the baby boomers and our changing demographics, more women will be called upon as caregivers either directly or indirectly. This has an impact not on their own personal lives but on the businesses that employ them.

It was great to attend the first meeting of the year for ASA in Lake County. The Assiciation of Specialists in Aging. Was launched in 1984 to create a networking organization for senior care providers in Lake/Geauga counties. Caring Services LLC was happy to be a sponsor of the meeting today and provide a raffle prize.

This area of Northeast Ohio has so many agencies and organizations that provide services to older adults and their family members. Be sure to get a copy of the ASA directory from the Lake County Council in Aging, local senior centers, hospitals and more.

Admittedly, caring for a loved one with dementia isn't easy. It can be downright hard and challenging. Caregivers are at risk for depression and can develop other stress-related health conditions. If you are a healthcare professional who works with individuals experiencing memory loss, this class is a must. Our CDP certification classes were so well received last year. We didn't even more classes this year. Your company or organization can connect with us to schedule a customized training just for your employees. We also have classes open to the community. While the majority of students are healthcare professionals, we've had representatives from businesses that are beginning to deal with the older population. This includes insurance agents, realtors, funeral home homes, clergy and volunteers.

We are so very grateful for the opportunity to bring services to older adults and their family members this past year. We launched our small business in January 2025. As we reach our first year anniversary, we are humbled by the stories from caregivers that we have heard this year.

We look forward to continuing to serve the needs of older adults and caregivers in the coming year.
