For the second time this month, Caring Services LLC has hosted the Classic Film program at the Solon Senior Center. Today's film was "The Manchurian Candidate". Many parallels to today's world.

Last week, we watched "Madame X".

Check out the latest issues of the Solon Senior Center Sentinel to learn about upcoming films.

We also got to work with one of these Salon High School seniors on her research project. She's looking at the impact of music on memory. Uva asked the participants to complete memory exercises while she played some Tibetan music that impacts brain waves. Very interesting and quite the project for a high school student to take on.

Our next class for those who wish to become certified dementia practitioners will be held on 4/29 on the King David campus in Beachwood, OH. Details attached.

The CDP certification is an excellent career advancement tool for anyone in nursing, social work, STNA, activity or life enrichment profession and more. Last year, 20% of our students represented non-healthcare businesses that interact with individuals dealing with memory loss. Funeral homes, real estate firms, volunteer organizations, etc.

Check out our five star reviews. The instructor for this class is Terry Hornikel. She is a national trainer and has many years of experience working with victims of dementia and memory loss.

We had another great turnout for the bingo program at Parker Place Independent living in Mentor on Monday. The residents there love nickel bingo. So we match the pot for every game. Can you guess how much $50 worth of nickels weighs?
It is a fast paced and fun filled hour.

Playing games like bingo help us all use our executive brain functions and are great cognitive exercise.

Thank you to all our bingo friends at Parker Place who joined the games, to activity director Ashley and the managers for extending the invitation to Caring Services to host the game.

Attendied the 5th Annual Advisory board Meeting of DSAS- the Cuyahoga County Department of Senior and Adult Services.

Listened to host Robin Svoboda lead the presentations from various providers ofsenior services in the area. NEO offers so many services for older adults. The challenge is learning about all the services and making the connections to determine eligibility and accessibility.

We are grateful for the opportunity to speak to the membership of WIN Cleveland this past week. While the outside was icy and dreadfully cold, the members of this organization gave us a terrifically warm welcome. Our topic was "The Greying of Northeast Ohio – the Impact on Women in Business". Carolyn Lookabill, senior advisor at Caring Services LLC was the presenter.

Did you know that the average caregiver is a 49-year-old female? She's likely working and may still have children in the home from toddler age through college years. With the impact of the baby boomers and our changing demographics, more women will be called upon as caregivers either directly or indirectly. This has an impact not on their own personal lives but on the businesses that employ them.

It was great to attend the first meeting of the year for ASA in Lake County. The Assiciation of Specialists in Aging. Was launched in 1984 to create a networking organization for senior care providers in Lake/Geauga counties. Caring Services LLC was happy to be a sponsor of the meeting today and provide a raffle prize.

This area of Northeast Ohio has so many agencies and organizations that provide services to older adults and their family members. Be sure to get a copy of the ASA directory from the Lake County Council in Aging, local senior centers, hospitals and more.
