💜 FRIDAY HERB SPOTLIGHT: LAVENDER 💜

Lavender (lavandula sap. - Lamiaceae) is my herbal soulmate. It is everything I need in my chaotic and hectic life. Its name comes from the Latin word for "to wash" (lavare) from when the Romans would add it to their baths for the scent it gave off. It also was used back in the day to ward off the plague and repel insects by hanging it around households and tucking it into cupboards.

Harvesting: buds should be harvested on a completely dry day and dried ASAP, since it is easy to mold. DO NOT expose these delicate buds to heat when drying, or it can destroy the volatile oils.

Add lavender to your tea blends or even throw some buds in your bath (with a drain strainer or in a tea bag, please... your pipes will thank you) and reap the following benefits:
