I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit revisiting Charlie Kirk’s debates on various topics. While I didn’t always agree with him 100%, I respected his willingness to engage in open, civil discourse. He often invited opposing views and handled disagreement with as much respect as possible, a rare quality these days.
It deeply saddens me to see how hatred over differing opinions has become so normalized. Disagreement is not only inevitable. It’s essential. It drives creativity, innovation, and growth. That’s what freedom of thought is supposed to mean. That’s what America is supposed to stand for.
To see people justify or celebrate what happened to him is disgusting and heartbreaking. No matter your beliefs, it is never acceptable to take a life. The trauma inflicted on his family, friends, and community, made worse by graphic videos being shared online, is disturbing and inhumane.
This world needs more love, empathy, and respect for differing opinions. We don’t all have to agree. But we do have to be human.
I’m deeply disappointed and taking a break from social media. My heart goes out to his family.
Rest in peace, Charlie. 🙏
Do better, America.
