As summer approaches and outdoor activities increase, we want to share with you our updated Sun Exposure Procedures for individuals attending Ability and Choice Services programs. Our priority is to support client health and safety while ensuring full participation in community and outdoor experiences.
You can view the full policy here:
🔗 Sun Exposure Procedures – ACS Policy 111-1
Key Points of the Procedure Include:
• Client-Provided Sunscreen: Due to FDA regulations, clients must supply their own sunscreen, labeled with their name. Staff will assist with application as needed and documented.
• Protective Clothing: We strongly encourage lightweight, sun-protective clothing and hats for individuals with sensitivity to UV exposure or for longer outdoor durations.
• Outdoor Activity Planning: Staff are trained to consider shade availability, timing of activities, and each individual’s sun tolerance when planning outings.
• Documentation and Consent: Staff follow documented consent and care plans regarding sunscreen use and sun sensitivity.
We appreciate your partnership in helping us implement these precautions. If you have any questions or if a participant has specific sun sensitivity needs or medical guidance that we should be aware of, please let us know so we can adjust support plans accordingly.
Thank you for your continued collaboration in promoting client safety and wellbeing.
