We are excited to share on this beautiful first of April the first concept design of our newly proposed building! Construction should begin sometime early this summer and be completed on/around February 30th, 2027.

🚨❄️ BLIZZARD WARNING ❄️🚨

Our crews are staffed and ready, but we need everyone to do their part to stay safe during this storm.

🧹 Shoveling Safety Tips:

• Warm up before you start – cold muscles are more prone to injury.
• Push the snow when possible instead of lifting.
• If you lift, use your legs — not your back.
• Take frequent breaks and stay hydrated.
• Avoid overexertion. Chest pain, shortness of breath, or dizziness are signs to STOP and call 911.

⚠️ Cold weather increases the risk of heart attacks — especially during heavy shoveling.

❄️ Winter Safety Reminders:

• Stay off the roads unless necessary.
• Keep space heaters 3 feet away from anything flammable.
• Never use grills or generators inside your home or garage (carbon monoxide danger).
• Check on elderly neighbors and those with medical needs.
• Keep fire hydrants clear if safely able to do so.

If you have an emergency, call 911.
For non-emergency matters, please use the appropriate channels so crews can remain available for true emergencies.

🚨 STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED – WINTER STORM / NOR’EASTER 🚨

The State of New Jersey has declared a State of Emergency in advance of the powerful Nor’easter expected to impact South Toms River beginning Sunday and continuing into Monday.

❄️ What to Expect:
• Heavy snowfall with significant accumulations
• Blizzard conditions
• Wind gusts up to 55 mph
• Dangerous and potentially impassable roadways
• Possible power outages due to downed trees and power lines
• Blowing and drifting snow

⚠️ Residents Are Urged To Prepare Now:
• Avoid unnecessary travel during the storm
• Charge cell phones and electronic devices
• Ensure you have food, water, medications, and essential supplies
• Check on elderly neighbors and those with special needs
• Move vehicles off roadways where possible to allow plowing operations
• Secure outdoor furniture and loose items

South Toms River Police, Fire, EMS, DPW, and OEM are actively monitoring conditions and preparing response resources.

Squad 37 was proud to assist Manitou Park Volunteer Fire Company and the Toms River Fire Training Center today during two separate ice rescue training drills.

We’re especially proud that several members of Manitou Park also serve on our First Aid Squad — a true example of dedication to our community.
