It’s skills assessment day for these future nurses. A few of the skills checked off today was:
♦️Calculating Intake and Output (stressing the importance of calculating and determining fluid volume overload or fluid volume deficit)
♦️Foley Catheter Insertion (focusing on minimizing the risk of a CAUTI by not breaking sterility, sterile field at waist level or higher, and proper genitalia cleansing)
♦️Gastric Tube Medication Administration (ensuring unlike medications aren’t mixed together, flowing at gravity opposed to pushing meds, verifying placement and residuals, and proper patient positioning)
One more week of assessments for these future nurses and they’re off to their next course. Good luck!
