Good afternoon 😊😊

To the Black BCBAs and RBTs working in homes, schools, clinics, and community settings across Michigan — your presence matters. You’re not just delivering services. You’re breaking patterns. Making space. Your work IS the data.

The clinical skills are important — but the culture you build as a Black BCBA or RBT matters just as much. How you show up in team meetings, how you advocate for your clients and/or how you navigate systems not built with us in mind. This is the work too! I pray that this motivates someone on this beautiful day 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

Hey everyone! 👋🏾 I hope your week is going well, whether you’re working in-home, in schools, clinics, or exploring the BCBA path. Let’s stay connected and keep learning together!

Here are a few quick ABA facts to spark conversation and learning:

📌 Fact #1: The BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) was established in 1998 to meet professional credentialing needs in behavior analysis.

📌 Fact #2: As of now, Michigan is one of the states with insurance mandates covering ABA therapy for individuals with autism under certain plans. This means advocacy matters—know your rights and your clients’ rights!

📌 Fact #3: RBTs are required to complete 40 hours of training and pass a competency assessment before taking the certification exam. Don’t forget those supervision requirements—ongoing support is key!

Good morning!! Hello and welcome 😊

This group is created to bring together black RBTs and BCBA/BCaBAs practicing in Michigan—to connect, empower, inspire, and uplift one another. To build community, find mentorship, share opportunities, and strengthen our presence in ABA. This is a space for Black behavior analysis professionals working across Michigan —metro Detroit, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Flint, Lansing, and beyond.

A few goals for this community:
• Share job opportunities, professional development events, supervision openings, CEU recommendations…
• Connect around topics that matter: navigating workplace culture, mentoring, self‑advocacy, culturally responsive ABA…
• Offer a supportive space for resource‑sharing—articles, podcasts, tools, training.
• Build networking connections and mentor relationships—whether you’re just starting or have years of experience.

Feel free to tag a colleague , and drop a comment to let me know what you’re interested in seeing. Let’s grow our community 🫶🏾
