Maybe an unpopular opinion 🤘

I keep seeing these posts about handmade or human-made being the new luxury. Really?

All clothing is human-made. All of it.

So, this idea of being a new luxury is rather perplexing to me. It has always been a luxury.
Unfortunately the textiles industry became just that: industrialized.

My mom made each one of my prom dresses and they were custom fitted, created with the exact patterns and designs I wanted, and are incredibly well-made. It was a luxury then and is now.

Big industries took the humanity out of human-made or handmade to try and disconnect buyers/consumers from the details, the cutting, the machine sewing or hand-crocheting, or at least they tried to make the disconnect.

An average piece of clothing that hits a store sales rack has been touched by anywhere from 50-100 people. It's all human-made.

So, it isn't a new luxury. It has always been a luxury.
