The Heart Behind the Care – Palliative Care Team Spotlight 💜

Meet Nikki. Her passion for palliative care comes from a deeply personal place. When her mom was diagnosed with lung cancer at just 49, Nikki experienced firsthand how overwhelming those moments can be without the right support. “No one spoke to us about our options or what the most likely outcome would be. The support palliative care could have provided would have been tremendous. I am grateful that I get to provide that support.”

After 23 years as an ICU nurse, Nikki saw how serious illness affects patients and their loved ones. She now works to provide care and whole patient support. She tells us she will never forget an elderly patient with COPD who couldn’t be weaned off a ventilator. The patient’s only wish was to see her beloved dog one last time. Nikki and her team made it possible, and the patient passed peacefully and comfortably.
