The first signs of spring on the farm 🌿🌷

Seeds are starting to sprout, and our perennial herb gardens are breaking through the warming soils. Meanwhile I'm working hard to use up every bit of last year's harvests before we start picking again this year!

Most people see this little bottle on my booth, and have a million questions. Most have never heard of mugwort, and never used a hydrosol.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, mugwort is becoming a staple in daily skincare regiments. Korean and Japanese skincare brands include Mugwort in toners, cream, and serums to lessen redness and inflammation. It soothes irritation and reduces puffiness, while working to calm rosacea, general redness, and reactions from daily makeup use.

Hydrosols can be great to use after washing your face, removing makeup, or just to freshen up.
As we move into warmer weather, a mugwort hydrosol is especially beneficial in soothing hot flush skin with a cooling mist!

Transitional seasons are the time for tonics 🌷

A closer look at the two new culinary salts available on our website!

Garlic Chive & Green Onion Salt has been my go to seasoning this winter. Garlic chive is a chive variety with a rich garlic flavor, and it's the perfect pairing with the light flavor of green onion.
I've been using it in cream cheese on bagels lately and it's so good!

The Mushroom Salt is a great way to add an umami flavor to dishes when used as a finishing salt. It's made from the cool weather shiitake mushrooms we grew this year, so it's got a subtle nutty mushroom flavor, without being overwhelmingly mushroom. It's perfect for stir frys, or finishing off seared meats.

Both of these blends are available online for local pickup, shipping, and delivery (now offering free delivery on Fridays!!) and we'll have a few with us at The Hub City Farmers Market this Saturday!!

🌿 New in the Shop 🌿

This one was made with you and your furry friend in mind!

As spring approaches, I can't stop thinking about the onslaught of fleas and ticks we dealt with in record breaking numbers last year.
But I refuse to let them keep me from the garden. And after being cooped up all winter, the dogs don't seem to remember daily tick checks and are ready to get back out in the sun.

Luckily we have herbal allies that are wonderful preventatives for bugs and pests!

Cedarwood is known for repelling all kinds of insects, but is especially regarded for its ability to ward off fleas and ticks. And when distilled into a hydrosol, you get a skin safe remedy for humans and dogs!
We'll be spraying our own ankles and pants legs to protect ourselves, and the dogs will be getting a good all over spray before entering the pasture to play.

Cedarwood hydrosols are now available in the shop, and will also be coming with us to this Saturday!
