🧤 Cold Weather Safety Tips
Staying warm and protected from the cold tonight and into tomorrow morning is critical. Here are important safety tips:
Dress Appropriately
• Wear multiple layers of loose, warm clothing — layers trap heat effectively.
• Cover your head, hands, and feet with a hat, gloves or mittens, and insulated boots.
• Outer layers should be wind-resistant and water-repellent.
Reduce Exposure
• Minimize time outdoors in freezing temperatures — seek shelter early.
• If you must be outside, take frequent breaks in a warm place and keep moving to maintain circulation.
Know the Signs of Cold-Related Illness
• Frostbite: Numbness, white or pale skin on fingers, toes, nose, or ears.
• Hypothermia: Shivering, confusion, slurred speech, extreme fatigue — seek help immediately.
Stay Dry and avoid alcohol (which can increase heat loss).
