The obvious win: our athletes are Olympic lifting!!
The NOT so obvious win: every single athlete is learning from the coach.
Something you may not know — many of our students in special education / adaptive athletes learn best in 1:1 settings. Group environments (like a classroom or even our gym) can be overwhelming and challenging.
When I first started Adaptive Fitness, I coached both the athletes and their parents, knowing that the caregivers would often be the ones providing that 1:1 instruction.
But over time everything has changed.
Our athletes have grown tremendously in their ability to:✨ Sustain their attention
✨ Follow instruction from the coach
✨ Sequence multi-step movements ✨ Build independence
It may not look like a big deal from the outside — but what you’re watching is YEARS of hard work in the making! What you’re watching is a HUGE WIN for our athletes and their dedicated parents / siblings!
Quite possibly my favorite part? Our parents (and older brother - we haven’t forgotten about you Devin!) now get to stand back, watch their athlete, and take in all their incredibly progress.
