Life lately. Taking a baby on vacation is for sure a whole new experience! So thankful this year for all the people in my life, this amazing family that Lucas and I have created together, and all the adventures we take along the way. This chapter of my life is going to be one of my favorites 💜 P.S. I have been busy doing life stuff but in 2024 I have my eyes set on really exciting additions to my wellness coaching business! Wowza what a year! 2022 brought so many huge changes to my world:

✨I passed my boards and became a Nationally Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach!

✨Found out I was bringing a powerful, baby girl into this world!

✨We bought a private lake with the most beautiful land surrounding it to become a nature playground for our whole family!

✨Got sailing certified to start all our water adventures!

✨And to start 2023 as a whole new woman, I got married to love of my life and changed my name to Ashley Maryann Edwards!

Now that is what I call one, epic year. Of course not all of it was easy but I knew in every part of my soul and body that it was time for some change and transitioning. I’m walking through a new passage this year and I can’t freaking wait to see the magic that occurs.

3 Tips to identifying your OWN Character Strengths to use to your advantage

Character Strengths are the positive parts of your personality that impact how you think, feel and behave - according to the VA Institute on Character.

You can begin to identify and use these traits by 1:

- Journaling. Sit down and think truly about the core of who you are. What do you value and how do you express that at the very foundation of who you are? Try to use words with depth and meaning. Then, check out the 24 identified character strengths and see which ones you most align with!

- Take a quiz. You can always take a good quiz. I love the one from the VA Institute on Character because it dives deep into who and how and why behind using your positive qualities to your advantage!

- Talk to a health coach. Believe it or not our work is not just about diet, nutrition and exercise. We value the WHOLE person, and believe character strengths are actually a key way to embody your optimal wellbeing.

Have you ever used character strengths to encourage your own personal, positive growth? 🤔

One of the defining principles of positive psychology is the use of character strengths to identify the positive strengths of an individual, and continue to develop them to experience success in their personal pursuits.

So... I LOVE positive psychology & character strengths because I believe we are all so innately good. And the more we can see and identify this in ourselves, the more we can thrive and optimize our entire lives - including our overall health and wellbeing.

5 Signs of Generational Trauma 👇🏽

Trauma causes us to engage in coping behaviors that allow and assist us in evading the pain we carry in our bodies. However, many of these coping methods - whether societally encouraged or not - are often not supporting us in healing or overcoming traumatic experiences.

Examples include
✨Phone addiction - addictions or any matter but this is particular preoccupies the mind and allows you to numb out from painful inner experiences.
✨ Gambling - another addiction which often provides a sense of a temporary high that is sought over and over again, despite the risk. The high feels good, elated and happy. And for someone seeking to escape this pain, such a sensation can be highly addictive
✨Misplaced Anger or frustration - this occurs when negative emotions are properly processed and plays out unconsciously towards situations or people that are not the actual root cause of the pain
✨ overworking - in our society, we glamorize overworking and “hard work” as a desirable quality. While it can be In healthy people, many of us unconsciously use work to avoid things we don’t want to process or examine internally
✨ isolation - a big theme in recent years, sometimes we guard ourselves from future trauma based off of painful past trauma that has been left in healed

These are just a few examples but speak to the importance of fully processing our pain in order to live full, healthy lives. If you've ever wondered what it takes to compile a well-balanced meal-prep for the week, here's what I would suggest to cover all your bases:

4-6 vegetables dishes. Here, the more the merrier. Not only for the versatility of spicing up your daily meals but vegetables are great for filling you up. They add volume and fiber to a meal, making you feel more full and satiated with less calories.

1-2 BIG salads. This is for lunch! If you want / need more, go ahead and plan for that but we love a good, nutritious salad for lunch.

3 types of protein, or protein made a variety of ways. Again, the key to not getting bored of your meal-prep is to pre-make dishes with different flavor so you can throw together a meal with unique flavors each night!

1-2 grains. I love rice and pasta because carbs are not evil!! they are part of our macronutrients and, let's be honest, they are so yummy.

Fruits & Fruits. Great for a simple, healthy breakfast and for light snacking in-between meals! Talk about feeling clean and clear - this is the way to go.

As I noted, you'll want all the spices and sauces to keep each meal interesting. Make your own dressings or buy at the store, BUT, trust me - you'll want this as you're prepping for the week ahead.
