As an IBCLC, I have follow simple rules when breastfeeding gets tough: feed the baby, protect the milk supply, and keep something happening at the breast.

Babies don't require very much milk at birth. About a teaspoon of colostrum is what they require at each feeding. Small, Frequent feedings is all your newborn needs!
