Struggling With Sleep? Here’s How to Get Better Rest

If you’re tossing and turning at night, you’re not alone. Sleep is a big part of your health—just like eating well and exercising. Poor sleep can lead to mood changes, weight gain, and even heart problems. But don’t worry—there are some simple things you can do to sleep better!

Try These Healthy Sleep Habits:

• Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends.

• Turn off screens (like phones and TVs) at least 30 minutes before bed.

• Keep your room cool, dark, and quiet.

Helpful Supplements:

• Melatonin: A natural hormone that helps your body know when it’s time to sleep. Try 0.5–3 mg about 30–60 minutes before bed.

• Magnesium: Helps calm the brain and muscles. Magnesium glycinate or citrate are gentle forms to try.

Relax With Pink Noise

Pink noise is like white noise but softer and more natural—like rain or wind. Studies show it can help improve deep sleep and memory.

A new three-year agreement has been reached with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. This means all Texas Health and UT Southwestern hospitals, facilities, and employed and affiliated providers are in network. We understand from BCBSTX that it may take several weeks for its system to update. If you received care April 1 or after, in-network rates will be honored. You should keep your scheduled appointment and can schedule new visits and be assured that in-network rates will apply.

TELEMEDICINE CHANGES 3/31/25

Dear Patients,

We want to inform you about upcoming changes to our telemedicine services due to new federal regulations. These changes will affect how we provide care through virtual visits.

Background:

During the COVID-19 pandemic, temporary rules allowed us to offer more telemedicine services to ensure you received care safely. These temporary rules are set to expire on March 31, 2025.

https://telehealth.hhs.gov/providers/telehealth-policy/telehealth-policy-updates

What’s Changing:

Starting April 1, 2025, some of the flexibilities for telemedicine services will end. This means certain services that were available via telehealth may no longer be covered. For example, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has decided not to recognize 16 of the 17 telehealth CPT® codes added for 2025.

How This Affects You:

After March 31, 2025, some telemedicine services may no longer be available. We understand this may be inconvenient, and we are here to help you transition back to in-person visits or explore other options.

Staying Informed:

We will keep you updated on any further changes and are committed to providing you with the best care possible. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact our office at 817-523-5402.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Springtown Family Health Center

Understanding Seasonal Allergies and How to Manage Them

As spring approaches, many people start feeling the effects of seasonal allergies. Itchy eyes, sneezing, and stuffy noses can make everyday life uncomfortable. These symptoms happen when the body’s immune system reacts to pollen from trees, grass, or weeds.

According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI), more than 50 million Americans experience allergies each year (ACAAI, 2024). Common treatments include antihistamines and nasal sprays, but natural remedies like local honey and saline nasal rinses may also provide relief.

To reduce symptoms:
• Check daily pollen counts
• Keep windows closed on high pollen days
• Shower and change clothes after being outdoors

If symptoms persist, make an appointment with one of our healthcare providers to help find the best treatment plan for you.
