Country Squire is an award-winning retirement home community offering an affordable lifestyle with hotel-like amenities including chef-prepared meals, weekly housekeeping, and an array of activities near by St Joseph. Country Squire welcomes home care agencies allowing our residents to customize the lifestyle that will best meet their needs. Country Squire is near by historic mansions and offers small-town charm in a quiet neighborhood. Joseph senior living community is just off Interstate 29 and an hour from Kansas City, near the Mosaic Life Care medical center and East Hills mall. Day trips are best spent at the Jesse James Home Museum, Pony Express Museum, The Missouri Theater or the Kansas City Chiefs summer training.

🌸💖 Grandparents Day Fun at Country Squire! 💖🌸

Our residents had an incredible day with their grandkids celebrating Grandparents Day! 🥳👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

We kicked things off with Muffins & Memories in the morning, followed by giggles and games that filled the halls with laughter. 🎲✨

At lunch, everyone was treated to a delightful meal prepared by our talented Head Chef Brian: tender roast beef, creamy mashed potatoes with gravy, warm homemade dinner rolls, mixed steamed veggies, and a sweet peach cobbler à la mode. 🍽️🍑🍨

The fun continued with our ice cream social 🍦 and a cozy home cinema showing Moana 2 🎬🌊 — complete with a Moana-inspired snack station that was a big hit! 🌺🐠

It was truly a day filled with joy, family, and unforgettable memories. 💕

We started the 2025-2026 school year off with a partnership between residents and local schools. Finding ways to give back allows us to invest in future generations and pass on generational knowledge that builds bridges across the age gaps.

We’re celebrating Kenny, a beloved junior server at Holiday Country Squire. Since joining the team at sixteen, Kenny has brought energy, kindness and a fun spirit to every shift.

When asked about his favorite part of the job, Kenny didn’t hesitate: “The residents – they are all so sweet.” One of his most meaningful memories was singing for them with his school choir last December.

"There’s a young man that’s going to succeed," shares Barb, a resident. "He’s already shown his love for others. The future needs more like him."

Kenny dreams of becoming a musician, learning piano, owning a home and traveling to Sicily. We’re so proud of him and can’t wait to see what he does next!

Cupid’s arrow struck Joan and Karl 69 years ago and it’s been love ever since! Recently, the happy couple celebrated their 67th anniversary at Holiday Essex House.

🌲✨ Great Outdoors Fun at Country Squire! ✨🌲

Our residents had an amazing time at our Great Outdoors Event! 🏕️ We were joined by the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Re*****on Nature Center, who shared fascinating wildlife knowledge and introduced us to a few types of turtles 🐢—along with tips on how we can all help care for our local wildlife.

After learning, it was time for some delicious fun! Residents built their own trail mix at our DIY bar, roasted gooey s’mores by the fire 🔥, and even tried their hand at an exciting axe throwing game 🎯.

A big thank you to our wonderful community partners—Home Instead, AseraCare Hospice, Freudenthal Home-Based Healthcare, and Three Rivers Hospice—for helping out and supplying some tasty goodies for our trail mix bar. 💛

It was the perfect day of learning, laughter, and community spirit here at Country Squire! 💚🌳

What is the secret to living to 103?

"I don’t have any secret," laughs Marlin, an easy-going resident at Holiday Thornton Place who recently celebrated his birthday with a party in the community. "I just go along with whatever’s happening."

And that aligns with his advice for younger generations. He reminds us all to persevere, "do what has to be done and keep going."
