The weight of anxiety, doubt, and fear? It doesn’t define you! Today, I’m choosing to walk in light, to think thoughts that lift me up and fuel my soul. You have the power to do the same. Anything negative that’s been holding you down, anything that’s no longer serving your growth, it’s time to let it go. 🌿

The key is realizing you hold the power to change your narrative. It takes patience and intention to reframe those thoughts, but remember—it’s always worth it. Every time you choose positivity, you rewrite your story in a way that serves your highest self. Start small. One moment, one affirmation at a time.

So, what are you releasing today? Comment below, and let’s lift each other up 💫 Tag a friend who needs to hear this! 🌻

“Anxiety, shame, fear, self-doubt do not hold power over me! I choose instead to embrace positive, live-affirming thoughts that hold me up and enable me to show up for myself and others. Sis, you can let go of negativity, too!- anything that is not serving you, no longer serving, never ever served you! The first step is acknowledging the power we have in that choice. It takes time and a conscious effort to rewire those thought patterns and really let go of those limiting beliefs and negativity taking up space in our beautiful minds- but what better time to start intentionally recreating that narrative than now?! One thought at a time. One affirmation at a time. You got this!

What negativity are you letting go of today?

“ There is so much captured in this photo that brings me pure joy. Firstly, my boys! They are hilarious, energetic, sweet and just so captivating to be around. Then there is the sun! I love me some sun! I feel so refreshed and recharged after spending time outdoors, yet don’t get out nearly as often as I would like. I am making the conscious effort to change that! And then the view-I am in awe of the beauty of nature. Especially when I get to capture so much beauty in one frame thanks to our glorious, elevated views. I was making plans of coming back before we even left!

Where have you been most recently that brought you joy? Who where you with?

“We recently have done spring- well I guess technically Fall – cleaning in my home. With that, we moved furniture around the house and this comfy guy was rehoused in our bedroom. This has quickly become my favorite, most convenient, and thankfully comfiest spot to for me to work most nights. By day, I WFH as a supervisor for crisis intervention and counseling program with my main man, Jet, by my side most of the time. Also, by day, and night, and all the time, I am a wife and mother of 2. Most nights, after the whole house is asleep, I post up in this chair and get to creating content, writing blogs and/or studying. I can say I honestly prefer it this way, and that is majority due to the fact that there is not many other times in the day that I have this much alone time paired with a peacefully quiet
home

Where is your favorite seat in the house? Comment below!”

“I so wish that I knew have the things I knew about mental health, self-caring, mindset
shifts way sooner than I did. Imagine all the mishaps, miscommunications, conflicts I could
have avoided with a tad bit more emotional intelligence that these above tips can help
foster in children. But hey, no sense in crying over spilt milk, I know better now so I strive to do better. And in my striving to do better, I am modeling to my boys how they can prioritize their mental health without them really realizing that is what they are doing.

And even when I fumble, fly off my handles and disregard all of the above; that provides a great – although not super fun- opportunity to humble myself and show my humanness to my kids. To demonstrate how we stumble, but we can make amends, make adjustments and move forward. Our kids don’t need us to be perfect, they need us to be real! And intentional!

“Okay excuse me while I geek out about evidenced-based theories for a sec, but I really love Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It is a very straight forward, yet powerful concept. The thoughts we experience lead to the feelings we feel and then impact the choices we make. Literally everything begins with a sentence. A sentence that then repeats until it becomes a belief. And with that, we can trace so many of our daily hardships, conflicts, stressors to a singular thought-that initial sentence.

I have used this approach with numerous clients over the years to identify the unconscious, unhelpful thinking patterns –stinkin’ thinkin’- we often find ourselves caught in as a means to address anxiety, depression, explosive anger, self-esteem, miscommunication within relationships- and more. Once you can identify the that pesky little sentence that is responsible for all this internal and external mishap; you have the power to rewrite it! Mind you, sometimes these thought patterns are deep routed, embedded due to our upbringing and/or are a result of past trauma – so you may find it necessary to sit with that thought, question it, process it, dig deep and exam it but ultimately then you can replace it with a narrative that sets that domino off in a more favorable direction.

Share this post if you now too love CBT! Or least think it’s a little bit neat (winky face). “

“Claim it! To all my fellow parents, working adults, humans apart of the hustle and bustle that we call life- we got this! You got this! I encourage you today, instead of giving attention to the thoughts that say you don’t have enough time, you will never get it all done, that you can’t- affirm to yourself that you will accomplish everything that needs to get done. The self-doubt talk is not helpful and will only add to the stress and pressure.

But also, let me repeat that with the emphasis on you will accomplish everything that NEEDS to get done. Sometimes, getting it all done requires us to consider what really needs to be done now and what can either wait, can be delegated to someone else, or is something we are taking on that we have no business taking on and need to set a boundary around (this tends to be me (insert emoji)-shout out to all my other first-born control freaks!). What are you letting go of- whether it be an actual task, a self-set expectation or a limiting belief- so that you an accomplish everything that needs to get done this week?

“Hey, hey! My name is Stormy. Things I Tell Myself is a passion project that brings together my professional expertise with my love of all things creative with my personal mission to touch lives in a positive way. I still can’t quite get the elevator speech pitch down where I concisely explain my vision – mainly because I am quite the day dreamer and I have so many ideas and inspirations swirling around literally all the time. But I can say that since embarking on this journey as a small business owner, it feels goooood. I feel like I am doing something that is making me happy from deep within! I was so nervous-and still am so nervous- about the idea of putting my whole self out here and my having my dreams out on display in front of so many friends, family members, strangers, strangers-soon-to-be friends; but as scary as it is to put my whole self out there, it feels even better to take up space in my unique way.

Humor me for a moment and take a second from your busy day to daydream with me-
don’t consider the barriers, what would be your passion project? Oooh even better, what makes you light you light up from within? Feeling brave- share your what came to mind below!

“Purposeful, positive, and beautiful words can heal and uplift! Your words can encourage people to achieve greatness. Your words can support and even heal someone’s suffering. Your words can nurture, nourish, and inspire people.

The words we speak to ourselves can do just the same. Imagine if we turned all of that loving, healing, encouraging power of our words inward! What would that feel like? Click the link in my bio to learn more about the power of the way we speak to ourselves! “
