😔 Grief strikes us all, including counselors. I know I won’t be able to focus on work for a bit, so I’m canceling all sessions until further notice to give myself a period of bereavement and to be with family. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there who are present for their kids, and to all the bonus dads who care for kids that aren’t biologically their own. And we cannot forget the pawdres, either! 🐾 I miss my dad like crazy and am going to the cemetery today to visit him. I cannot emphasize enough how valuable present and loving dads who act as leaders are to society. You are seen and loved! ❤️

This certification means I’m well-versed in first responder culture and clinical interventions to help them achieve improved mental health. Per credentialing body NERPSC’s website: “The ERPSCC™ establishes a national standard for licensed clinicians of all levels to be identified and recognized for their advanced knowledge and commitment to supporting this unique population.” So if you didn’t believe I knew what tf I was doing before, believe it now! 🚨👍🏻🤓

Pleasssse - especially therapists - stop using these terms incorrectly. And for the love of God and everything holy… “narcissist” does not mean what you think it means. Unless you’re a competent therapist, just stop using it altogether. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve held off on this as long as I can. In full transparency, I can’t do it anymore. Effective immediately, I can no longer accept new clients who have BCBS or Tricare. BCBS finally updated my address from my 2023 move after I told them numerous times and updated what I had access to immediately after the move, yet they still have been showing my old address (2 streets away in the same zip code) for remittance. This has posed the potential for many issues. For some reason, which my provider rep has yet to elucidate despite me asking her in writing no fewer than a dozen times, when she finally updated my address it kicked me out of network and I haven’t been paid. I am owed thousands of dollars. Tricare changed effective January 1. I haven’t been paid since December. They also owe me thousands of dollars. These two insurers represent ~ 70% of my clients. I can’t do it anymore. Every human has their breaking point, and I am at mine. Clients and providers deserve better. I am taking all of next week off - unpaid of course since I’m essentially working for free right now anyway - to regroup and come up with my next move. I apologize deeply to future potential BCBS and Triwest clients that I cannot see you unless you pay privately. This is the reality of thousands of therapists. We are tired. We are human too. And so many of us just cannot do it anymore.

The last thing I ever wanted to do was inform my military-connected clients (or any client) that they will need to pay out of pocket in order for me to keep my business open… but here we are. I haven’t been paid since December 2024. I have to do this in order to be able to pay my mortgage and keep my lights on. Literally. I am so very sorry.
