In Service-St. Louis I specialize in helping GLBT couples get divorced in a way that honors the love that was there. LGBT families are just like all kinds of families. You pay taxes.

You love your partner and your children. You go to work, come home, have fun, have struggles, just...live your life. However, some of life's struggles can have a direct impact on your very existence as a family. Since gay and lesbian couples can't get married in the state of Missouri, there's no guarantee that you'd be able to visit your partner in the hospital should she become gravely ill. There

's no guarantee you'd be able to make health-care decisions for him should should he become disabled. The same goes for financial decisions. This is true even though you'd been together 10, 20, 30 years! There's no guarantee you'd be able to visit a non-biological child should he or she become ill. And what happens if the relationship breaks down and you are considering 'divorce'? Since you can't get married you can't get officially divorced in the state of Missouri. What becomes of your joint finances, the home you've shared together? What happens to your children? In Service St. Louis can help you answer some of those question in a way the protects your rights and your privacy. To find out more call Michael Tramble at 314-537-4675.

Interesting talk with a client yesterday. He got married to his same s*x partner in Iowa a couple years ago and now wants a divorce. Obviously he can't get one in Missouri & Iowa has a 12 month residency requirement. A question: If a person of means marries a person with no money, what's to stop the poor person from moving to Iowa for a year and then sueing for divorce in order to get half the marital property?

Some time ago I watched a moving documentary about Muhamed Ali. While in Africa he came up with a poem that is probably the shortest poem in the English language. "You? Me? We!" I think about that poem alot. I look at it as a call recognize our common humanity. I love this poem.

The issues that arise in le***an- and gay-parented families are a function of two things: One is the rich variety of family constellations they comprise, and the other is the fact that they are living in a society which does not yet value rich variety. Michael Tramble here. Worried about foreclosure? I encourage folks to talk to your mortgage company yourself before paying a professional to negotiate. Most would prefer to have folks stay in their homes, maintain the property and make smaller payments. Call your bank to see if they have a loss and mitigation department. Or call HUD at 800-569-4287. If no one can help, call me at 314-537-4675. I'd be happy to help!
