Did you know that female high school soccer ⚽️(real football !!)is highest in concussions after football.....
Why do you think that is?
Here are some reasons...
1. Physical nature of the sport: Soccer is a contact sport, and players often collide with each other or fall to the ground, increasing the risk of head injuries.
2. Heading the ball: Soccer involves heading the ball, which can lead to head-to-head collisions or head impacts with the ball, especially if the technique is not proper.
3. Lack of protective gear: Unlike sports like American football or hockey, soccer players do not wear helmets or other protective headgear, which can increase the risk of head injuries.
4. Player behavior: Some studies suggest that differences in playing style between boys and girls, such as more aggressive play among girls, could contribute to the higher concussion rates in girls’ soccer.
5. Field conditions: The condition of the playing field can also contribute to the risk of injury, with uneven or poorly maintained surfaces increasing the likelihood of falls and collisions.
These factors, combined with the popularity and widespread participation in girls’ high school soccer, contribute to its high rate of concussions compared to other girls’ sports.
For all of you who played or have children that play take some precautions before the seasons and get a brain assessment done at one of our locations.
