My heart is so full after this past Saturday at Westport Plaza. 💕 The STL community of women never fails to amaze me - moms, postpartum warriors, goal-chasers, and women just getting started… all choosing to show up for themselves and for each other. That’s powerful.

As a physical therapist, it lights me up to see women learning how to move well, feel strong, and take ownership of their health. Pair that with Katie Hoehn from bringing her training experience and nutrition expertise, and it was the perfect balance.

But more than anything… we had SO much fun. The energy, the laughs, the sweat - it reminded me why I love this community so much.

Here’s what we know: your glutes are supposed to be the powerhouse of your lower body, but modern life has essentially turned them off. Hours of sitting, poor movement patterns, and generic exercises that don’t actually target proper glute function have left most people with weak, non-functioning glutes.

The result? Everything else has to pick up the slack. Your lower back becomes overworked trying to stabilize what your glutes should be handling. Your knees take stress they weren’t designed for. Your hips get tight from other muscles trying to do the glutes’ job.

Here’s what most people don’t understand about deadlifts: when your back hurts, it’s usually not the deadlift that’s the problem - it’s how you’re doing it. Traditional straight bar deadlifts put the weight out in front of you, forcing excessive forward lean and putting unnecessary stress on your spine.

The hex bar changes everything. You step inside the weight, which allows for a more natural movement pattern, less forward lean, and better mechanics. Most people can actually lift more weight with better form using a hex bar compared to a straight barbell.

We’re not afraid of heavy lifting here - we embrace it. But we do it smart. We teach proper movement patterns first, assess your individual mechanics, then progressively load you in ways that build real strength without breaking you down.
