We had a little horse emergency on Sunday. 😢 I mean, who am I kidding … owning horses is like one big ongoing emergency 🤪 Duke is just fine, be he decided to break into his feed and over indulge which led to an attempt to tube him(essentially pump his stomach), but that failed and he just ended up with a big, fat nose bleed that made a human nose bleed look like a pin-prick 😭

I feel like I’m sharing for two reasons: 1. I get asked all the time by clients and acquaintances how hard is it really to own a horse? And I respond that it’s one of the hardest things I’ve done outside of parenting and being a stepmom (BUT, like the former - totally worth it!)

They are always trying to die and will cost you thousands and thousands of dollars so I just say that to encourage anyone thinking of horse ownership to do your research and know what you’re getting into.

2. I’m sharing because if this had happened four years ago when I first became a horseowner, I would’ve lost my ever-loving mind! Now … I did panic slightly because I love my babies, but I came to truly recognize how much I’ve grown—how I can now endure intense, even frightening situations, and still stay grounded, think clearly, and respond with strength and calm.

I’m deeply grateful for the chance to witness this and be reminded of how far I’ve truly come—especially in moments when it’s so easy to forget, to doubt ourselves, or to feel frustrated for not being further along on our path.

New addition!! Norman will be so happy to have a herd mate👏👏👏👏 pretty sure I’m going to name him Walter but I told Jacob he could name the next cow … so I have to figure that out! Right now his name is Snow 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣

Every spring I love taking shots of the horses among the buttercups. You might recognize this beautiful yellow flower that stretches on for miles … it’s glorious! 🌼🙌

Did you also know buttercups are toxic to horses? The first year I learned this, I panicked and ran around the field pulling them up like a nut. 🤪 After about 30 minutes and a few handfuls I looked around to notice there were hundreds and maybe more 😩

I reminded myself the horses know better than to eat them (unless there is nothing else available) and with that, I was given an opportunity to trust them and have faith in their deep rooted knowledge.

The day I took this picture I watched as they would smell each plant before eating, and when they came to the buttercups they just ate around them. 🌼

We are all capable of tapping into the wisdom and knowledge within. Sometimes we just have to slow down and sniff 🐴
