These days, Fran enjoys curling up with a good book, tackling crossword puzzles, and soaking in live music during our weekly Happy Hours — she never misses a chance to smile and enjoy the moment.

Today we celebrate Marie Theerman, a wonderful resident of Cedarhurst of Des Peres, as she turns 101 years old! Born on August 25, 1924, Marie continues to inspire everyone around her with her kindness, humility, and zest for life.

A lifelong learner and teacher, Marie earned her degree in education with a love for art, and she spent her career shaping young minds. In 1950, she married her sweetheart, Harold, and together they raised two sons, Paul and David. Her family has since grown to include four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who are her pride and joy.

Even now, Marie fills her days with painting, drawing, brain games, music, exercise, outings with friends, and plenty of laughter. Her joy for life shines through everything she does — proving age is truly just a number.

🎉 Happy 100th Birthday, Marion Rhoads! 🎉

Born August 16, 1925, in Harrisburg, PA, Marion has spent a century filled with family, faith, and fun. She married her husband, William, in 1949, and they made their home in Lake Forest, IL, raising four children—Carol, Kim, Susanne, and Rick. Today, she’s the proud grandmother of four and great-grandmother of one.

Marion’s first job was with Bell Telephone, but her heart found joy in music, singing in the choir at The Church of the Holy Spirit for 42 years. She’s loved cheerleading, playing bridge, golf at Deerpath Golf Course, and countless family trips—from the North Shore to National Parks.

Longevity runs in her family—her parents lived to 99½ and 101!

🎉 Happy 100th Birthday, Waunita Helfers! 🎉

Born on August 13, 1925, in Craig, Missouri, Waunita has lived a century filled with grit, grace, and a whole lot of fishing! The middle of three siblings, she was a proud tomboy who delivered newspapers by bike all through high school—up at dawn, rain or shine.

After beauty school, she opened her own shop in Craig, and later moved to Independence with her husband Alvin and their children, Maryann and Mark. She was a talented seamstress, a dedicated gardener, and happiest with a fishing rod in hand—especially at Rush Lake, where she landed a bass big enough to mount!

Waunita later retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where she and Alvin golfed regularly, fished often, and were deeply involved in their Lutheran church. Today, she’s a beloved part of Cedarhurst of Blue Springs, where she still cheers on her favorite baseball teams and keeps a keen eye on the birds outside.

Her advice? Never take no for an answer. A true original—determined, joyful, and full of life. 🎂🐟❤️

Born on August 11, 1925, in Kinde, Michigan, Betty has lived a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and love. She worked as a high school secretary in her hometown and later built a life she cherishes, including 56 wonderful years of marriage to her husband, who proudly served in the military.

A proud mother to Cheryl and Terry, Betty also has four grandchildren who bring her endless joy. Now a beloved member of Cedarhurst of Edison Lakes, Betty enjoys daily walks, Bible study, and listening to her favorite Christian music.

Though vertigo keeps her from playing piano these days, her spirit remains strong—and her heart full. Betty says she feels surrounded by good people. Help us celebrate 100 years of grace, love, and devotion! 🎂🎶❤️
