Heartland Consumer Network

Heartland Consumer Network Missouri's Mental Health Civil Rights Movement organized by people who have themselves experienced psychiatric labeling

We were organized in 2009 to promote mental health advocacy in the state of Missouri. We are one of two statewide networks of mental health consumer/survivors, along with NAMI Missouri.

Our main project currently is a research project in collaboration with Missouri Institute of Mental Health. We are checking to see how friendly communities are towards people have emotional distress and psychiatric labels. We also operate Poetry for Personal Power, a social inclusion campaign in partnership with Wellness Wordworks.
