With the latest news being released, in regards to the school shooting in St.Louis MO on October 24th, I feel that I can now come forward without having to worry about assumptions and misinformation. Here at JS Gunworks, we were the FFL that ran the background check for the attempted purchase of a new rifle, on October 8th. We received an instant Denial response, and the potential customer walked away from our table, confused about the response given. We have worked with the local ATF & FBI agents, who have been working diligently to do their jobs at the local level. I can’t express my appreciation of the quick response and actions of the St.Louis Metropolitan Police. During this process, many things have had light shed on them, and I believe can be used to learn from.
• It shows that the laws that are in place WORKED, & no new laws are needed. When there’s a will there will ALWAYS be a way. Remember, laws only work for LAW ABIDING citizens.
• Again, the laws in effect worked. The ball got dropped when there was no follow through by an agency, ATF, when the Denial Dept was notified by FBI, that someone who isn’t able to purchase a firearm, was attempting to do so. There needs to be a change in their Policy & Procedures.
• Mental health is a REAL issue, but the subject gets used like a Jack-in-the-Box. Pop in the subject at the right moment to get a reaction, but then put it back away and never do anything about it, until another event winds it up for it to pop up again and get a fresh reaction. If mental health was truly a high priority, Counselors and Holistic Doctors would be covered under insurances, and it wouldn’t be such a fight to get monthly prescriptions for things like ADHD, as just an example. Mental Health is truly a joke when we are at a time that it’s needed the most. Big Pharma is a huge culprit of this issue as they are clearly able to help control policies.
• An added thought. Since there’s enough money to be wasted by politicians and other agencies, why don’t they put some of that money and energy into creating a Free-To-Access National Stolen Gun Database! Something that could truly be used to help lower crime rates when criminals couldn’t pawn off or sell stolen fi****ms as easily.
At JS Gunworks, we will continue to push for the best quality, hard work, and good ethics. We look forward to working with prior customers again, and aim to make new ones. Hope to see you soon, and thank you for your continued support!
