IT’S TIME TO JUMP INTO A CHEMICAL FREE HOME AND THIS LINEUP IS THE ABSOLUTE PERFECT WAY TO DO SO!
The bottle looks cute and makes promises of a germ free environment. The bottle may even warn of immediate health dangers or poisoning but what’s missing from the label is the hidden danger of long term toxicity. Conventional cleaning products wreak havoc on the respiratory system, cellular health and even mental clarity of those who are exposed to them. The Volatile Organic Compounds (gases emitted from certain solids or liquids which represent a variety of chemicals) of the cleaning agents remain in the air long after the surface has been cleaned. While there is not yet a standard of safety established for non-industrial buildings, it is interesting to note that OSHA does regulate the carcinogenic VOC formaldehyde to a permissible level of .75ppm. The consumer household cleaning product sales market was a 7.3 billion dollar industry in 2007. The good news is, thanks to consumer awareness, the sales of CONVENTIONAL chemical household products is slowing from a previous growth rate of 10% annually. Perhaps a new DIY ingredient savvy generation is to thank.

Did you know that Vick’s VapoRub contains ‘spirits of Turpentine’? True Story. But you won’t find it on the label. In fact they don’t list any of the sub ingredients on the label, you need to get that from the product insert in the box. So just go to where you file all of your products “product inserts” and take a look. Oh, you don’t keep those, or read those? Well Sweet Ones, lucky you have me to de-code it. I even got into an interesting conversation with “Rose from Vicks” about it on their page once upon a time. True Story. Many of you may remember it fondly. LOL
Conventional Chest Rubs (in case turpentine wasn’t a big enough reason for you to ditch this one) also contain a base of Petroleum which is a petrochemical derived from the bi-product of the petroleum / gas refinement. Ok, now that I have your attention but just in case you need one more: fragrance. So with heaps of neuro toxins, endocrine disruptors and formaldehyde releasers, THANK GOODNESS we have healthy and safe alternatives such as…. Thieves Chest Rub! Oh, and it does not leave a thick greasy film that makes you ditch your clothing afterwards.

The aroma alone… give me ALL things Lushious Lemon! This blend of lemon, spearmint, ylang ylang will have you SWOON from room to room! I like to add a bit of geranium to mine when I diffuse and clean with this! (oh yes, you heard that right! Since I can add literally any oil to my diluted Thieves Household Cleaner, why not make my ENTIRE home smell the same? So whatever I use as my cleaning addition, I put in my diffuser and add to my floor mop as well! I mix up a cleaner of 1 capful thieves hh cleaner, 4 oz hydrogen peroxide, 4 oz water and what ever oils I feel like that day! I make sure that bottle cleans the entire house. Whatever is left after cleaning, gets sprayed on the couch, carpets, rugs etc)

Oh sure, you can whip up a concoction of vinegar, water, fragrant oils but check out this little accidental delectation......

One day, I found myself pouring this divine scent into a gorgeous soap dispenser (that I picked up at Good Will by the way...amazing frivolous treasures there), and as luck would have it, the sink wound up with more soap than the dispenser. Of course I was not upset, who could be with such incredible aroma wafting your way. So, as I am wiping and rinsing the sink, I suddenly realize that the basin is gleaming and the scent is swoon-worthy.
Hmmmm....I'm intrigued. I got out a scrub brush, tossed a capful of Lushious Lemon in the tub, and tested out this surface. Gleaming again. (It cuts through soap residue like you would not believe.)
The secret to a five star hotel bathroom? Lushious Lemon.
