Did you know September is Animal Pain Awareness Month? ๐Ÿฉน

AMCMA combines multiple approaches to treating pain in order to achieve the best possible outcome for each pet. Supplements, medications and state-of-the-art equipment can greatly reduce pain and improve a petโ€™s quality of life.

How do you know when your dog or cat is in pain? You can find canine and feline pain checklists on our website:

In the final days of July, the Humane Society of Missouri's Animal Cruelty Task Force performed its biggest rescue in more than decade: 224 animals from a single home. The rescue included more than 200-small breed dogs, along with cats, kittens, birds and a rabbit.

All of the dogs required significant grooming, along with spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations.
A large number of the dogs from this rescue have needed extensive dental work due to years of neglect, and the AMCMA team has had its hands full making sure these pups get the care they need so they can go to their forever homes. The pup pictured here needed all of her teeth extracted, but she is much happier now eating a pain-free soft diet.

We are so happy to be able to play a part in helping both client and shelter pets live their happiest, healthiest lives!

At AMCMA, we know that losing a beloved pet is one of the most difficult things a person can experience. National Pet Memorial Day was earlier this week, and it's a good time to look through AMCMA's end-of-life resources.

Deciding if it is the right time to say goodbye to your pet is a very difficult decision. We recommend scheduling a veterinary appointment to discuss your petโ€™s condition so you can make the most informed decision.

AMCMA offers the following services:
๐ŸŒˆ Veterinary consultation
๐Ÿพ Humane euthanasia
๐ŸŒˆ Cremation
๐Ÿพ Tributes and memorials

Hi, Iโ€™m Meatlug โ€” but around here, they call me Schmeatus!
My favorite pastime? Birdwatching through the window like itโ€™s cable TV. ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
Also... I make a mean batch of catnip tea. Just dip the toys, let it steep, and voilร . โ˜•๐Ÿ˜‹
We seriously have the most entertaining (and adorable) clients.

Meet Maisy!๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ’‰

This sweet young kitty recently came in to get her FVRCP booster vaccine. The FVRCP protects cats against four serious illnesses: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Chlamydia psittaci, and Panleukopenia.

Keeping up with booster vaccines is one of the best ways to ensure pets like Maisy stay healthy, happy, and protected as they grow. ๐Ÿ’›

Did you know dogs have a sense of smell up to 100,000 times stronger than ours? ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿถ

Thatโ€™s why they can sniff out treats from across the houseโ€ฆ and sometimes across the yard!

Their incredible noses even help detect medical conditions, track missing pets, and find lost items.

Whatโ€™s the most impressive thing your dog has ever sniffed out? ๐Ÿฆด

Meet Emmy, a 17-week-old Labrador retriever - Bernese Mountain Dog mix! She first came to AMCMA in June after being adopted. She weighed just 16 pounds. In July, she was up to 29 pounds, and today she is 40 pounds. We love this growing girl!

During her three visits to AMCMA so far, Emmy has received her DHPP boosters and rabies vaccine. She has also received a leptospirosis vaccine. Kudos to Emmy's people for making sure she's happy and healthy!
