💙 Honoring Kara Moreno 💙
As we prepare for our upcoming charity golf tournament on Sunday, September 21st at Bear Creek Golf Club, we want to take a moment to share more about the incredible woman this event is dedicated to: Kara Moreno.
Kara was a bright light in this world—an amazing, loving, and vibrant soul who meant so much to so many. She was near and dear to all of us at The Althea Project, and we had the privilege of watching her shine and thrive. Her energy, humor, and heart left a lasting mark on everyone she met.
We are working closely with her mother, Chris Moreno, to plan this tournament in a way that truly honors Kara’s spirit. Chris has been incredibly generous with her time and love, helping us ensure that every detail reflects Kara’s life and legacy. She asked us to share this with you:
“Kara Bray was a gift to the world. She was kind, funny, and very talented. She had a love of all animals, especially dogs. Kara was a very unique artist, and we are so grateful for her paintings and sculptures. She fully embraced her love of her father’s Latino heritage, as evidenced in her tattoos dedicated to him. She loved helping others and cared deeply for her family. When we said ‘I love you,’ her response was always, ‘I love you more.’ Her laugh was bigger than she was. We will miss her every moment of every day.”
This tournament is about more than golf—it’s about celebrating Kara’s life, remembering her joyful spirit, and supporting the cause she believed in. All proceeds will go toward expanding sober living services in the greater St. Charles area—something Kara was passionate about and personally impacted by.
