WHY DO DOGS LIVE SHORTER LIVES THAN HUMANS?

Here’s a surprising answer from a 6-year-old child 💪✍

A veterinarian, once shared a touching story.

I was called to examine a ten-year-old German Shepherd named Astro. The dog’s owners and their young son were very attached to him and were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Astro and found that he was dying of cancer. I told the family that nothing more could be done and offered to perform the euthanasia at their home.

They agreed… it was the most humane choice, as the dog would otherwise suffer greatly.

As we prepared, the parents told me their six-year-old son wanted to be present during the procedure.

The next day, I felt the familiar lump in my throat as the family gathered around Astro. The little boy was calm as he gently petted the dog one last time before Astro peacefully passed away. 🖤

Afterward, we all sat together in silence, reflecting on why dogs have much shorter lives than humans.

The boy, who had been quietly listening, suddenly spoke:

"I know why."

We all turned to him in surprise. What he said next stunned me—I've never heard a more comforting explanation. 🐕

He said:

“People are born to learn how to live a good life—like loving and being kind, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t need to stay as long as we do.”

If a dog were your teacher, you might learn things like:

🍀 Run to greet your loved ones when they come home.
🍀 Never miss a chance to go for a walk.
🍀 Take naps.
🍀 Stretch before rising.
🍀 Run, play, and have fun daily.
🍀 When it’s enough to growl, don’t bite.
🍀 On warm days, lie on your back in the grass.
🍀 Drink lots of water and relax in the shade.
🍀 When you're happy, dance and wag your whole body.
🍀 Enjoy the simple joy of a long walk.
🍀 Be loyal.
🍀 Never pretend to be someone you’re not.
🍀 If what you want is buried, dig until you find it.
🍀 When someone’s having a bad day, be quiet, sit close, and just be there.

That’s the secret to happiness… straight from a dog’s heart.

The True Cost of a Puppy: What You’re Really Paying For

We often receive messages from people asking, “Do you offer a discount?” or “Can you work with me on the price of a puppy?” And while we understand that budgets matter, we also hope people understand the reality of what goes into raising a quality, well-bred puppy. It is not simply a business. It’s a way of life… and one filled with love, sacrifice, and heartache.

What many don’t see is the journey that starts long before a litter is even born. We invest in carefully selected breeding stock… dogs that are not just beautiful, but healthy, sound in temperament, and proven in their lineage. These dogs often cost thousands of dollars on their own, and that’s before training, certifications, health testing, and care.

Planning a breeding isn’t done on a whim. It requires months, sometimes years, of preparation. We study pedigrees. We consider genetics. We travel, consult, test, wait… and hope. When the day finally comes and the dam is confirmed pregnant, our hearts are full, but the real work is just beginning.

Whelping a litter is one of the most intense, emotional experiences a breeder can go through. Many of us sleep on the floor next to the whelping box for days (or weeks) on end, waking every hour to check pups, help with feeding, and make sure the mother is okay. We live in a state of constant watchfulness and exhaustion. There are no days off. No “sick days.” Just a deep sense of responsibility that doesn’t let up.

We clean constantly. We track weights. We assist with nursing. We sanitize, feed, socialize, and soothe. And then there are the emergencies. The moments when a puppy is failing and you’re rushing to the vet, praying you’re not too late. The nights you sit quietly crying, holding a puppy you couldn’t save… because no matter how experienced you are, loss still hurts. It never gets easier.

Vet bills pile up. Quality food, supplements, vaccinations, microchips, deworming meds… it all adds up quickly. And these aren’t shortcuts we’re willing to take. Because our goal isn’t just to raise puppies… it’s to raise great puppies. Confident. Healthy. Stable. Well-started. And ready for the life they’ll share with their new families.

We are with them around the clock (day and night) until they go to their new homes. We miss holidays, cancel trips, and put our personal lives on hold. Our own families often come second to our four-legged ones. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a calling. And we feel a tremendous obligation to do it right.

So when someone asks for a discount, it’s hard not to feel like everything we pour into this is being undervalued. You’re not just paying for a puppy. You’re paying for the years of experience behind that puppy. For the sleepless nights. For the heartbreaks. For the endless hours of care, cleaning, training, and love. You’re paying for peace of mind… knowing that the dog you bring home was given the very best start in life.

We’re not here to mass-produce dogs. We’re here to preserve a breed we love, and to match our puppies with homes where they will thrive and be cherished.

If our price seems high, it’s because the cost of doing this the right way is even higher.

We ask for understanding, and more than anything, respect for the process. Because behind every puppy is a breeder who’s given their whole heart to raise them… and that’s something you simply can’t put on sale.

🐾 PATROL: As our heat wave builds, please be aware of where you're walking with your furry friends. While air temperatures might only be in the 90’s, both asphalt and concrete will be MUCH hotter, enough to burn your pups paws.

Corso Puppy

When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.

When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.

But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, climb stairs, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.

You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.

Her Story

In so many ways, I’m not so different from others, but then again, my life was so much different. Even before I remember, documents showed I was malnourished as an infant. I was put into 21 different foster homes until I was adopted at 2 ½ yrs old.

Once I was adopted, I grew up in a small town and experienced common struggles with friends, school, and boys. I went to church Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night. I was taught about Jesus from the time I can remember.
