"Strength equipment" isn't very "strong" nowadays. Wonderfully engineered, these strength machines are. But as a f**king world class, masterful, virtuoso weight lifter, it's just insufficient for me. I'm not even trying yet. Lord have mercy when I do ๐.

Try these at the end of a push day or after already beating up the triceps a little bit. It doesn't look like much as it's a bodyweight exercise but believe me, there's nothing easy about it.
.
Stand back far enough that your head goes below the bar. This will insure full range of motion and a significant stretch.
.
Keep your torso straight. You'll be tempted to hinge at the hips which would make it substantially easier and less effective.
.
Start with the bar at a somewhat high setting and progress by moving it down until you're failing within a good rep range.

Two misconceptions to clear up here:
.
1. Your knees protruding past your toes on squatting movements is NOT detrimental or bad for your knees. Not even a little bit. If you're training through a full range of motion and targeting your quads optimally, it'll almost always happen unless you have proportionately short femur bones.
.
2. You can "control" a movement without doing that movement "slowly." There's certainly nothing bad about slowing down the eccentric portion of an exercise. I encourage it in most cases actually. However, you can still keep tension on the muscle and control the weight while moving at a relatively fast tempo.
