Lauren Murphy Recovery Page

Lauren Murphy Recovery Page To share Lauren's miraculous ongoing recovery! From being hit by a car and left with little hope, to inspiring thousands with her comeback story.

Lauren suffered severe head trauma as a result of being struck by a car while on a run in Los Angeles the morning of Friday April 19, 2013. Lauren was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood immediately following the incident undergoing an emergency labectomy to remove a portion of the front left lobe of her brain as well as surgery to extract a portion of her skull to relieve pressure and allow the brain to swell. At this point, her status is described as extremely critical but stable. Follow along with this page where we will post updates from status and additional information about fundraising events, prayer services, etc.

What story don’t you see? You see a smile. You see strength. You see Lauren. But what you don’t see is the daily fight with challenges that remain invisible, the fatigue, the seizures, the words that sometimes don’t come easily. Invisible disabilities don’t always announce themselves, but they are just as real. Lauren’s story reminds us to look beyond appearances and remember that Kindness Is Free. What stories might be hidden behind the faces you see every day?

It takes courage to show up for others day after day, and nurses do it with grace, skill, and heart.
Thank you, SSM Cardinal Glennon, for inviting us to keynote your Nursing Conference. We love nurses and credit them as one of the driving forces behind saving Lauren’s life. Bring the Murphys Don’t Quit story to your next conference or corporate event!

When the path isn’t chosen, how do you keep walking? Life doesn’t always wait for us to say yes before it changes direction. Some steps are chosen, others are forced. But each one still moves us forward. For us, it begins with Show Up. Even when the way is uncertain, even when the road feels heavy, showing up is the first act of courage. Every step after that follows. We don’t have to have it all figured out — we just have to show up.

👑 Happy Birthday to the queen herself, Lauren Murphy! 👑
From surviving the impossible to inspiring thousands, you’ve proven that true strength comes with a smile (and maybe a little sass).
Your laughter, courage, and sparkle light up every room, and remind us all that some of the strongest battles are fought behind the brightest smiles.
We love you Lauren!

Next week is the 4-year anniversary of when Murphys Don’t Quit was published! 🎉 The phrase Murphys Don’t Quit has been part of our lives for a long time, but sharing it through our book has been one of the greatest gifts. As an author, one of my favorite things is being invited to a book club party. Whether your group gathers in a living room or logs in from across the miles on Zoom, I love celebrating with you....

"We didn’t pick this path. We walked it anyway." Sometimes life hands us challenges we never asked for. What matters most is how we respond, the choice to keep showing up, keep fighting, and keep walking forward. One of the most powerful lessons we’ve learned: find your cheerleader, the people who remind you to keep going when you want to give up....

It’s not easy to have enough talent to cut off all three heads in a photo, but somehow I managed! Thanks to The state of MO Division of Senior and Disability Services, Adult Protective Services for inviting us to speak at your summit. My pictures are terrible but you all were great! Thank you for all you do for those in need!

“The flames we face can break us down… or they can forge us into something stronger.” Rising from the fire is how scars become stories and comebacks inspire others.
Tag a role model who rose from the fire stronger than ever, and tag another who reminds you what resilience looks like.
When we lift each other up, we rise higher.

Today’s Monday Motivation She doesn’t remember the impact. She’ll never forget the comeback. People often ask if Lauren’s memory is intact. The short answer is yes. Some things are fuzzy, but for the most part she remembers her past, and trust me, if she comes across an old photo of her sisters wearing one of her outfits, she makes sure they remember it’s hers!...https://murphysdontquit.com/2025/08/25/the-comeback/
