There are approximately 30,000 Americans living with Cystic Fibrosis and one of those is our oldest son Mike. He is now 34, married to the love of his life Amanda and for most of his life has done pretty well-- however it does effect how he lives each day. He tried very hard to not make a big deal about having CF and wanted to be treated like any other person. Spring of 2018 his lungs were at the
point of no return and it was time to be listed for a double lung transplant. We got the call for lungs just 3 days shy of three weeks on the evening of Mother’Day! While Mothers’s day is a celebration of life for our family, another Mom’s world was shattered. Transplant is not a cure, lots of medication must be taken daily to help with rejection. While we are so happy that he’s getting to live his life, all the tests, medications and treatments to keep him healthy are extremely expensive and not all covered my insurance. This is where Help Hope Live comes into play. This organization is a 501c that helps cover medical expenses for those with catastrophic illness like CF. They have agreed to take Mike as a client. Moving forward into 2022 amd beyond we will divide the proceeds between The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Help, Hope, Live. For the auction part, you can choose which organizations you’d like to donate to. Both organizations are 100 percent tax-deductible donation. People with CF spend countless hours everyday doing treatments, just so that they can continue to breathe. In addition, CF patients require more sleep than the average person in part just to make up for the interupped sleep due to coughing during the night. This hike is just not for my family and our son but so many others affected with CF-they are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends and co-workers who struggle every day just to breathe. We hike for all of them and hope you will support me in our efforts. The good news is that real progress has been made in the search for a cure, but the lives of people with CF are still cut far too short. Please support us on our mission! No dollar amount is too little or too much. Get your friends and family to explore nature and help out a worthy cause! For more information you can call Cindy at 314-623-4060 or PM. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and lungs-
Matt, Cindy, Mike and Amanda
