Loving soups right now ... must be the weather! If you want to 'thicken' your soup for a heartier meal, a simple way is to puree additional veggies and add them in - a quick 'fix!' Not to mention the extra nutrients! Yummmm...... what soup are you making?

Key to eliminating cravings, is to maintain a healthy even blood sugar level throughout the day. Eating the right carbs (veggies) with some protein every 4 hours will keep your blood sugar level. Your body doesn't store glucose, and your body will need more about every 4 hours. Your brain and nervous system especially need it! Are you 'listening' to your body? Giving it the nutrients it need? Watch your energy soar if you are!

Just read this from the South Beach Diet. If you're gluten intollerant (which a lot of people are) and eating eggs, you might want to know this: Yolk color: The differences in yolk color depend on the type of feed given to the hen. While hens given wheat-based feed tend to produce eggs with lighter-yellow yolks, those given corn-based feed tend to produce eggs with darker-yellow yolks. Fortunately, the color of the yolk does not affect the flavor or nutritional value. The yolk is the most nutritious part of the egg — it is rich in vitamins A, C, and E, and the carotenoids lutein and zaxanthin, which are known to improve eye health.

While wheat is one of the major gluten-containing grains, it is important to remember that "wheat-free" does not mean the same thing as "gluten-free." Some people are allergic to gluten, a mixture of protein fragments found in common cereal grains, however, others are allergic to the protein in wheat itself, including wheat albumin and wheat globulins. People allergic to wheat will want to avoid wheat and its by-products. Become educated about your body's response to food - have you taken a food intollerance test? What did you discover?

Heard a great quote today: "Eat as if your life depends on it ..... it does!" Hmmmmm, there's something to think about! Make the best possible choices and you'll see your health become better every day!

This is GREAT information:

What Should You Look For In A Probiotic?

If you watched my Road To Perfect Health television special, you’ll know that probiotics are nothing new. They’ve been around for over 20 years and can now be found in everything from orange juice to yogurt. So what should you look for when choosing an effective probiotic supplement? The four main points to consider that I discussed extensively in my PBS show are as follows:

1. Look for high culture count.

The culture count refers to the total amount of live, friendly bacterial cultures in a single serving. You need a least 15 billion cultures to begin to make an impact on your health—often more depending upon age or health-related concern. The more probiotics the better when it comes to the culture count in probiotic supplements.

2. Check out the number of strains.

There are over 1,000 strains of beneficial bacteria in the gut. A good rule of thumb is that a variety of strains more closely resemble the diversity that naturally exists in the gut. Look for the naturally occurring strains that begin with Ls and Bs, like lactobacilli and bifidobacteria. A good way to remember is that the L strains are good for the little (small) intestine. The B strains are good for the big (large) intestine or colon. It’s also important to get a variety of strains because each person’s body has a different bacterial footprint and utilizes some bacterial strains better than others. Cover all the bases with one supplement for best results.

3. Make sure the capsule is designed for delayed release.

Probiotics must travel through the harsh stomach environment and be delivered to the intestines to be effective. If they never make it through the stomach acid, they won’t do you any good. Delayed-release capsules are engineered to remain intact through the stomach and begin dissolving in the intestine, where they are needed most.

4. Look for potency at time of expiration, not manufacture.

Any probiotic is fresh when manufactured, but very few remain at full strength through their expiration date.

A probiotic supplement, when delivered to the right place, with the right amount of cultures and strains, can help promote digestive health, bowel regularity and strengthen the body’s natural immune defenses. Be sure to read the label, so you’ll know you’re giving your body the probiotic it needs.

Wheat free doesn't mean gluten free (gluten is the generic name for certain types of protein. Products may have other gluten-containing ingredients. Did you know: gluten-containing grains used as both basic ingredients and additives during food processing or preparation! Avoid processed foods to feel better, avoid stomach bloat and cramps.

Just read this - food for thought: "Entertainig is about the host and what they can do; while, hospitality is about the guest and welcoming them into our life." Hmmmm ... always felt overwhelmed when entertaining, change my perspective and what a positive feeling 'getting together with others' is! Something to think about.
