7 perimenopause signs most women ignore, especially when their labs come back “normal”:
Perimenopause isn’t something that suddenly happens overnight. It’s a transition phase that can begin years before menopause, and for many women, the symptoms are subtle, confusing, and often dismissed.
Here are 7 common signs I see over and over again:
1. Irregular periods – cycles may become shorter, longer, heavier, or unpredictable
2. Mood changes – increased anxiety, irritability, or feeling emotionally “off”
3. Sleep disturbances – especially waking between 2–4am and struggling to fall back asleep
4. Brain fog – forgetfulness, lack of focus, or feeling mentally slower than usual
5. Weight gain – particularly around the midsection despite no major lifestyle changes
6. Low energy – persistent fatigue that rest doesn’t seem to fix
7. Hot flashes or night sweats – even mild ones that you might brush off
Here’s what most women aren’t told:
You can be experiencing all of these symptoms and still be told your labs are “normal.”
That’s because hormone levels fluctuate daily during perimenopause, so a single lab snapshot doesn’t always reflect what your body is going through.
As someone who works closely with women navigating this phase, I want you to understand this:
Your symptoms are valid. Your experience matters. And there are ways to support your body through this transition.
You don’t have to wait until things get worse. You don’t have to “just deal with it.”
