Functional Nutrition Therapy Practitioner

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University with honors and a Master of Science degree from the University of North Carolina - Wilmington. My graduate research resulted in several publications in peer reviewed journals. I worked as a scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for over seven years. My work at NIH was in the field of epigenetics – the study of how the environment affects gene expression. With an interest in maintaining optimal health, I began investigating how nutrition plays a role in our gene expression (how well our body works to stay healthy). I furthered my nutrition knowledge as a scientific researcher at an Integrative Health Practice for over five years. Here I investigated the scientific literature making connections on how food and supplements can heal the body.

I am a Functional Nutrition Therapy Practitioner and I continue to stay updated on the latest nutrition trends by attending Nutrigenomic and Integrative Health Conferences. I am passionate about helping individuals maximize their health whether it is a high level athlete looking to optimize their performance or an individual wanting to improve their overall energy and fitness.

Noticing some of these signs? It’s important to understand that this is multifactorial.

It can become a combination of electrolyte and mineral imbalance, all of which we address in my program optimizing the 11 systems of the body.

This is why quick fixes don’t work. Your body needs the right support working together, not just targeting one symptom.

If you want to understand this deeper, I’m hosting a FREE Masterclass on April 22nd at 7PM where I break this down in a simple, practical way.

“I’m so tired… but I can’t sleep.”

This is exactly what Emma told me when we started working together.

She was waking up at 3am every night,
mind racing, body wired…
and running on empty the next day.

And the frustrating part?

She was doing all the “right” things.

Less caffeine. More workouts. Trying to push through.

But nothing was actually fixing it.

Because the problem wasn’t just sleep…

👉 Her cortisol was spiking at night
👉 Her blood sugar was crashing
👉 Her hormones were shifting (hello, perimenopause)

Her body wasn’t broken, it was overwhelmed.

Once we focused on supporting her nervous system, balancing blood sugar, and working with her hormones…

Everything shifted.

✨ She started sleeping through the night
✨ Her anxiety eased
✨ Her energy finally felt stable again

“I feel calm in my body for the first time in years.”

If you’re feeling exhausted but wired, waking up at night, or struggling with anxiety in your 40s…

This is more common than you think and it’s not something you just have to live with.

💬 Comment “SLEEP” or message me if you want to understand what your body is trying to tell you.

Or if you’d prefer to learn more first ,I have a free Masterclass on April 22nd at 7pm.

7 perimenopause signs most women ignore, especially when their labs come back “normal”:

Perimenopause isn’t something that suddenly happens overnight. It’s a transition phase that can begin years before menopause, and for many women, the symptoms are subtle, confusing, and often dismissed.

Here are 7 common signs I see over and over again:

1. Irregular periods – cycles may become shorter, longer, heavier, or unpredictable
2. Mood changes – increased anxiety, irritability, or feeling emotionally “off”
3. Sleep disturbances – especially waking between 2–4am and struggling to fall back asleep
4. Brain fog – forgetfulness, lack of focus, or feeling mentally slower than usual
5. Weight gain – particularly around the midsection despite no major lifestyle changes
6. Low energy – persistent fatigue that rest doesn’t seem to fix
7. Hot flashes or night sweats – even mild ones that you might brush off

Here’s what most women aren’t told:
You can be experiencing all of these symptoms and still be told your labs are “normal.”

That’s because hormone levels fluctuate daily during perimenopause, so a single lab snapshot doesn’t always reflect what your body is going through.

As someone who works closely with women navigating this phase, I want you to understand this:
Your symptoms are valid. Your experience matters. And there are ways to support your body through this transition.

You don’t have to wait until things get worse. You don’t have to “just deal with it.”

If you’re ready to understand what’s really happening in your body and what you can do about it

Struggling with weight gain, low energy, mood swings, or poor sleep lately… even though you’re doing everything “right”?

This could be perimenopause and most women don’t even realize it’s happening.

Perimenopause can start as early as your late 30s or 40s, and it affects:
âś… Hormones
âś… Metabolism
âś… Stress levels
âś… Sleep quality

Which is why your usual routine suddenly stops working.

The truth is…
It’s not about eating less or working out harder.
It’s about undeWhen you support your hormones the right way, everything starts to feel easier again✨

If you’ve been feeling off and don’t know where to start…

Feeling tired all the time? Struggling with stubborn belly fat, poor sleep, or constant stress? It might not be your routine, it could be your cortisol levels.

High cortisol (your body’s stress hormone) can affect your energy, metabolism, hormones, and even your ability to lose weight. Many women experience symptoms like fatigue, cravings, anxiety, and disrupted sleep without realizing that chronic stress is the root cause.

If your body feels off despite doing “everything right,” it’s time to look deeper. Supporting your hormones and managing stress properly can make a huge difference in how you feel, look, and function every day.

You don’t need more restriction, you need the right approach for your body.

✨ Comment “STRESS” if you want help understanding your symptoms and what to do next.

If you’re in your 40s and suddenly struggling to lose weight… even though you feel like you haven’t changed anything…

You’re not imagining it.

And more importantly, you’re not doing anything wrong.

This is the part no one really talks about…

During perimenopause, your hormones start to shift, especially estrogen.
And those changes affect everything: your metabolism, your hunger, your energy, even where your body stores fat.

So that routine that used to “work” before?
It might not be working the same way anymore.

And that can feel incredibly frustrating.

Because you’re trying.
You’re putting in the effort.
But your body just isn’t responding the way it used to.

Maybe you’ve noticed:
– Weight creeping up, especially around your belly
– Feeling more tired, even when you’re doing your best
– Cravings hitting harder than before
– Or just feeling like you’ve lost control over your own body

And it’s exhausting… physically and mentally.

But here’s the truth:

This isn’t the time to eat less and push harder.
This is the time to start working *with* your body instead of against it.

Your body doesn’t need more restriction.
It needs the right kind of support.

A different approach.
One that actually understands what’s happening in this phase of your life.

Because you deserve to feel strong, confident, and in control again, without extreme diets or burning yourself out.

You don’t have to figure this out on your own 💜
Send me a message and let’s talk about what your body actually needs.

Most women think they just need more discipline…
but Rachel’s story proves otherwise.

At 45, a busy mom of three, she was doing everything “right”,
eating less, working out more, trying every diet trend…

And yet, she felt exhausted, stuck, and completely unlike herself.

👉 Constant fatigue
👉 Weight gain (especially around the belly)
👉 Cravings she couldn’t control
👉 Workouts that made her feel worse, not better

Sound familiar?

What we found wasn’t a lack of effort,
it was a body under stress:

• Hormonal imbalance
• Gut inflammation
• High cortisol levels
• Blood sugar crashes driving cravings

Once we stopped focusing on restriction and started supporting her body…

Everything changed.

✨ More energy
✨ No more bloating
✨ Sustainable weight loss (without extremes)

This is what real, sustainable weight loss for women over 40 looks like.

Not harder. Smarter.

If you’re in your 40s (or approaching it) and feel like nothing is working anymore…
your body isn’t broken, it just needs a different approach.

💬 Comment “READY” or send me a message, I’ll help you figure out what’s really going on.

Most women think perimenopause starts when their periods change…

But the symptoms often start long before that đź’ś

If you’re feeling more tired, anxious, struggling with your weight, or just not like yourself anymore…
it’s not “just stress” and it’s not something you have to push through alone.

Your body is changing, and it needs a different kind of support.

If you can relate to any of these, it might be time to start looking a little deeper.

DM me HORMONES and I’ll send you my free guide to help you understand what’s going on and what you can start doing today ✨

Stop blaming yourself for symptoms you don’t understand.

So many women feel like they’re doing something wrong…
because their body isn’t responding the way it used to.

But this isn’t about discipline.
It’s about understanding what’s actually changing internally.

When your body changes, your approach needs to change too 🤍

04/02/2026

I remember when my body started changing… and I didn’t understand why.

I was gaining weight, especially around my belly.
But nothing in my routine changed.

Same meals.
Same workouts.
Same effort.

So I did what most of us do…
I blamed myself.

I thought maybe I was just being lazy.
Or not disciplined enough.

But the truth?

My body wasn’t failing me.
It was going through perimenopause.

Those “small changes” I ignored ,
the fatigue, the mood swings, the stubborn weight
they were actually signs.

Signs that my hormones were shifting.

And no one really talks about this part.

No one tells you that weight gain during this phase
is not always about eating less or exercising more.

Sometimes, it’s about understanding your body
and learning how to support it differently.

If this feels familiar, you’re not alone :yellow_heart:

If you’ve been feeling like your body is all over the place lately… you’re not crazy.

The mood swings, the exhaustion, the bloating, the weight that won’t budge, the brain fog that makes you forget what you were just saying… it’s not just “stress” and it’s definitely not something you should just have to live with.

So many women are told this is just part of getting older… but no one actually explains what’s happening or what you can do about it.

Your body isn’t working against you , it’s asking for support.

And when you understand what’s going on with your hormones, everything starts to make a lot more sense 🤍

Comment “Hormone” and I’ll send you the free guide that’s helped so many women navigate this.
