I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University with honors and a Master of Science degree from the University of North Carolina - Wilmington. My graduate research resulted in several publications in peer reviewed journals. I worked as a scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Nation

al Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for over seven years. My work at NIH was in the field of epigenetics – the study of how the environment affects gene expression. With an interest in maintaining optimal health, I began investigating how nutrition plays a role in our gene expression (how well our body works to stay healthy). I furthered my nutrition knowledge as a scientific researcher at an Integrative Health Practice for over five years. Here I investigated the scientific literature making connections on how food and supplements can heal the body.

I am a Functional Nutrition Therapy Practitioner and I continue to stay updated on the latest nutrition trends by attending Nutrigenomic and Integrative Health Conferences. I am passionate about helping individuals maximize their health whether it is a high level athlete looking to optimize their performance or an individual wanting to improve their overall energy and fitness.

I am a recipient of the Department of Commerce 2007 Silver Medal for Leadership and I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I fuel my passions by working out, enjoying nature, traveling and spending time with my husband and son.

I remember when he was little, thinking I had all the time in the world.

Now I’m acutely aware that every family dinner, every late-night conversation, every trip we take together (like our recent Greece adventure) is precious.

And it’s frustrating.

Usually, we have no idea.

We think we just need to add more cardio. Eat a little less. Or be more “consistent.”

When in reality, once you’ve dug yourself into a hormonal hole… eating less or working out more will actually make it harder to lose weight.

Then there are the women who have figured out the problem. They understand it could be hormonal.

And they go to their doctor and ask for testing and are told things like…

1️⃣ We can’t test for that. (Aka we can’t bill for it.)

2️⃣ You just need to exercise.
