Sarah Kelly DeVido MSc, FNTP
Functional Nutrition Therapy Practitioner

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University with honors and a Master of Science degree from the University of North Carolina - Wilmington. My graduate research resulted in several publications in peer reviewed journals. I worked as a scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Nation

al Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for over seven years. My work at NIH was in the field of epigenetics – the study of how the environment affects gene expression. With an interest in maintaining optimal health, I began investigating how nutrition plays a role in our gene expression (how well our body works to stay healthy). I furthered my nutrition knowledge as a scientific researcher at an Integrative Health Practice for over five years. Here I investigated the scientific literature making connections on how food and supplements can heal the body.

I am a Functional Nutrition Therapy Practitioner and I continue to stay updated on the latest nutrition trends by attending Nutrigenomic and Integrative Health Conferences. I am passionate about helping individuals maximize their health whether it is a high level athlete looking to optimize their performance or an individual wanting to improve their overall energy and fitness.

I am a recipient of the Department of Commerce 2007 Silver Medal for Leadership and I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I fuel my passions by working out, enjoying nature, traveling and spending time with my husband and son.

CAPTION
She was eating clean. Exercising daily. Sleeping 8 hours. Getting her annual bloodwork.
And still gaining weight, crashing by 2pm, and forgetting words mid-sentence.

Her doctor told her it was "just perimenopause."
But here's what no one told her: standard labs only show a fraction of the picture. They don't test your full thyroid panel. They don't look at your cortisol rhythm. They don't check your gut.
When we ran the right labs through the Heal Intelligently™

Framework, we found:
🔬 Subclinical hypothyroidism her doctor missed
🧬 A cortisol pattern driving her crashes and insomnia
đź’© Gut dysbiosis fueling her bloating and inflammation

It wasn't willpower. It wasn't "just aging."
It was missing data.
Within months she had steady energy, clear thinking, and lost 8 lbs without cutting a single calorie.

This is what happens when you stop guessing and start testing.
If your labs are "normal" but something still feels off, your doctor isn't running the right labs.

👇 Comment LABS and I'll send you my Functional Labs Checklist so you can see exactly which tests to ask for.

I can’t tell you how many women come to me after months (sometimes years) of hormone treatment that didn’t work.

They’ve tried the creams. The supplements. The prescriptions. And they’re still bloated, still exhausted, still gaining weight, still not sleeping.

Here’s what I ask first: What does your gut look like?

Because your gut isn’t just about digestion. It is directly involved in how your body clears estrogen, produces serotonin, regulates cortisol, and converts thyroid hormones.

If your microbiome is disrupted, your hormones will reflect that. Period.

This is why I run gut testing alongside hormone panels for every single client. You cannot see the full picture without both.

If you’ve been stuck in a cycle of hormone treatment that isn’t working, the answer might not be more hormones. It might be your gut.

Comment GUT below and I’ll send you details on how we find the real root of what’s driving your symptoms.

You’re doing all the “right” things.

Eating clean. Moving your body. Prioritizing sleep.

But the weight isn’t moving. Especially around your midsection.

Here’s what no one told you about perimenopause and weight gain:

It’s not a willpower issue.
It’s not about eating less or training harder.
It’s a hormone and metabolic signaling issue.

When estrogen fluctuates, fat storage shifts.
When progesterone drops, cortisol rises.
When cortisol stays elevated, insulin locks fat in place.

And the standard lab panel? It misses most of this.

The women I work with don’t need another diet plan. They need the right data and a targeted protocol built around what their labs actually show.

That’s the Heal Intelligently™ approach.

Save this for a friend who needs to hear it.

DM me “LABS” to learn how a precision, lab-driven approach can help you finally move the needle.

Most women who come to me have already tried everything.

They’ve cleaned up their diet. They’re exercising consistently. They’ve cut out alcohol, added supplements, and done all the “right” things.

And they still feel exhausted, inflamed, and stuck.

Here’s what I’ve learned after years in research and clinical practice: the problem is almost never effort. It’s information.

When we run the right labs and look at the full picture (hormones, gut health, metabolic markers, nutrient status), the answers are usually right there. Hiding in plain sight.

The issue is that most standard panels only scratch the surface. They tell you what’s “not wrong.” They don’t tell you what’s actually driving your symptoms.

That’s the gap I fill for my clients inside my 1:1 practice. We go deeper. We find the patterns. And we build a protocol based on YOUR data, not generic advice.

If you’re tired of being told you’re fine when you know you’re not, this is your sign.

DM me "ANSWERS" and I'll tell you exactly how we get started.
