To celebrate Wisconsin's Music Therapy Month we are hosting a MASSIVE coloring event! Each coloring sheet is one piece of a bigger mystery picture that can only be revealed once all of the sheets are colored. Today, Amanda, one of our Board-Certified Music Therapists, explains how Soundbellows are used in Neurologic Music Therapy!

Neurologic Music Therapy is a research-based system that uses musical elements to treat the brain. NMTs are trained in the neuroscience of music and use evidence-based techniques to cause changes in neuropathways, or connections in the brain.

Soundbellows have a unique sound that combines the breathy sounds of the harmonica and the structure of an accordion! They’re color coded which makes them great introduction tools for learning music and practicing Neurologic Music Therapy.

At MTSCW, our biggest priority is providing you with the best care for you and your family. Our music therapists have all completed a bachelor's degree in music therapy, 1,200 hours of supervised clinical training, passed the certification exam, and received additional training from our owner and award-winning music therapist, Richelle MT-BC. We want this to be standard for all music therapists to ensure you and your family receive safe and competent care wherever you receive services. Let’s work together to make this a reality!

Give Yourself A Hug!🩷

Did you know giving yourself a hug can actually relieve anxiety? In a 2025 study, participants who performed a Butterfly Hug while repeating positive affirmations were able to significantly reduce their anxiety. This Valentine’s Day, it’s important to celebrate all types of love, especially self-love! Whether you decide to make time for a hobby, relax, or give yourself a hug, do some self-care this Valentine’s Day!

Self-Healing Butterfly Hug🦋👐

Position: Give yourself a hug, making sure your hands lay on your upper arms or shoulders.
Move: Pat your arms/shoulders alternately and rhythmically. Or sway back and forth.
Affirm: In your head or out loud, repeat positive affirmations like, "I am enough."
