Self-care for Parents ❤️‍🩹

Caring for yourself is just as important as caring for your child. This Valentine’s Day is a great time to show yourself some love and establish some healthy self-care habits 💖

Speak about yourself with compassion
Did you know positive self-talk can improve self esteem and relieve stress? Writing a script of positive affirmations to say to yourself or hanging positive sticky notes around your house can be a great start!

Take 5-10 minutes to exercise
Exercise or stretching is seriously a great way to reset and release happy chemicals in the brain. Taking just a couple minutes to get your heart rate up can give you an extra boost!

Take care of yourself first
In an airplane they always tell you to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. Taking care of yourself first allows you to show up for your child again and again without burning out. For example, you can regulate your emotions first in a situation and take breaks when you need them. Setting these boundaries not only protects your own health, but also sets a positive example for your kids!

Build a support group
Building a support group can help when things feel like too much. This could include friends, family members, a therapist, or even other families in the music therapy waiting room!

List 1 way you can show up for yourself everyday
A little change can make a big difference! This could mean making sure you eat 3 meals a day, drink enough water, or give yourself dedicated breaks or hobby time.

Remember: you’re doing great! 🩷

The Gift of the Ladybug written by Carole Mac .mac and illustrated by Evi Shelvia is a story of love and acceptance when two horses find out their new baby is a ladybug! Inspired by Carole’s dearly departed son, TJ, this story helps families accept difficult diagnoses and embrace their children as they are. “The Gift of the Ladybug” Day brings awareness to children with illnesses and provides comfort and peace to families. If you are interested in purchasing this book, we recommend going to her website, carolemac.com, as the proceeds go to helping children with critical illnesses.

Lyrics To Remember 🎵

The new year is full of new optimism and resolutions! In this time of exciting change, it’s also important to recognize where we’re at and how far we come. Billy Joel’s “Vienna” is about embracing the wisdom that comes with time and finding peace where you are. 💙

We’re starting 2026 off right! 🎉

If you're anything like us, you're passionate about collecting cool instruments to use during sessions. That might also mean you've got a few that don't seem to be a hit with the kids.

That’s okay! What’s a better way to clear up space than to give these instruments a new home

Bonus: families can use these during virtual sessions too!

What instruments will you be letting go this year? Comment below! ⬇️

Music Brings So Much to the Holidays!❄️👐

👐Connection
Music connects us to each other through shared memories, caroling, and listening together.

🎄Tradition
Many holiday songs have historical roots that connect us to traditions and themes celebrated by past generations.

🧸Nostalgia
Music is the only way we can truly go back in time! Songs can trigger positive memories of past celebrations with family, friends, and communities.

❄️Reflection
Seasonal songs describing winter and the holidays can involve all of our five senses during the season, anchoring us to the present moment and encouraging mindfulness.

We will be closed December 24-28 to celebrate the season. Happy holidays! 🌲❄️
