Self-care for Parents ❤️🩹
Caring for yourself is just as important as caring for your child. This Valentine’s Day is a great time to show yourself some love and establish some healthy self-care habits 💖
Speak about yourself with compassion
Did you know positive self-talk can improve self esteem and relieve stress? Writing a script of positive affirmations to say to yourself or hanging positive sticky notes around your house can be a great start!
Take 5-10 minutes to exercise
Exercise or stretching is seriously a great way to reset and release happy chemicals in the brain. Taking just a couple minutes to get your heart rate up can give you an extra boost!
Take care of yourself first
In an airplane they always tell you to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. Taking care of yourself first allows you to show up for your child again and again without burning out. For example, you can regulate your emotions first in a situation and take breaks when you need them. Setting these boundaries not only protects your own health, but also sets a positive example for your kids!
Build a support group
Building a support group can help when things feel like too much. This could include friends, family members, a therapist, or even other families in the music therapy waiting room!
List 1 way you can show up for yourself everyday
A little change can make a big difference! This could mean making sure you eat 3 meals a day, drink enough water, or give yourself dedicated breaks or hobby time.
Remember: you’re doing great! 🩷
