🎓 Meet Duke – Our Brave Graduate! 🐾

Duke, a 6-month-old Great Pyrenees, came to VSCS on May 29th after a devastating accident—he had been hit by a car. His injuries were extensive: bilateral femur fractures and a severe degloving injury to his left hock, which also damaged the ligament and dewclaw. Upon arrival, Duke was in shock and showed signs of head trauma.

After intensive care and stabilization, Duke was finally strong enough to undergo surgery to repair his broken legs. Due to the complexity of his degloving injury, his left rear leg was kept in a bandage that required changes every 3–5 days—for three months!

But today is graduation day! 🎉
Duke is officially bandage-free and cone-free, and he’s ready to return to the fun, playful life every puppy deserves. He’s been an absolute trooper through it all, and his dedicated owners have been by his side every step of the way.

We are so proud of you, Duke! Congratulations on your amazing recovery! 💙🐶

🎆🐶 Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸
While we humans love the fireworks, our furry friends might not feel the same way.

Here are a few quick tips to keep your pup safe tonight:
🐾 Keep them indoors in a calm, quiet space
🐾 Turn on the TV or play soothing music to drown out loud booms
🐾 Make sure they’re wearing ID tags—just in case
🐾 Skip the table scraps and treats that could upset their tummy

Wishing you and your four-legged family members a safe and happy Independence Day! ❤️🐾

Summer Heat Safety Tips for Pets:

1. Hydration is key – Always provide fresh, cool water. Add ice cubes to keep it chilled longer.
2. Limit outdoor time – Avoid walks or play during peak heat (10 AM – 4 PM). Early mornings or evenings are best.
3. Never leave pets in the car – Even with windows cracked, temps can rise dangerously fast.
4. Provide shade – Whether it’s a tree, covered porch, or pop-up canopy, always ensure your pet has a shady place to rest.
5. Paw check – If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Stick to grass or shaded paths.
6. Grooming helps – Regular brushing removes excess fur, but don’t shave double-coated breeds—it can make them hotter!
7. Cool-down tricks – Try frozen treats, kiddie pools, cooling mats, or wet towels for added comfort.
8. Watch for signs of heatstroke – Heavy panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting? Call your vet immediately.

🐾 Happy Veterinary Assistant Week! 🐾

Let’s give a big round of applause to the one and only Morgan – our resident personality hire and ray of sunshine! ☀️

Morgan’s infectious laugh can brighten any room, and if there’s a mildly sad story? Prepare for tears (and probably snacks). She’s always down to clown and brings a spark of joy wherever she goes!

💖 Smooshy face dog alert! If you own a Pug, watch out – Morgan is absolutely obsessed and will try to adopt your dog on the spot. You've been warned.

🎨 Our most talented artist, Morgan turns every cone of shame into a masterpiece. If your pet went home with a doodled cone, you can thank Morgan for the flair!

But Morgan isn’t just fun and creativity—she’s also an incredible co-worker with a heart of gold. Her positive attitude, stellar communication, and unwavering dedication to patient care make her an irreplaceable part of our team.

Morgan, we’re so lucky to have you. Thank you for all that you do—you’re paws-itively amazing! 🐾💕
