Cold doesn’t have to mean extreme. ❄️
The most common cold plunge range used in recovery settings falls between 45–60°F. But where you start inside that range matters.
Here’s how to think about it:
55–60°F
A great starting point. This range allows your body to adapt to cold exposure while still supporting circulation, nervous system regulation, and recovery. You can focus on your breathing instead of just “getting through it.”
50–55°F
Once you’ve built tolerance, this range increases the stimulus. You’ll feel a stronger cold response while still being able to stay present and controlled. Many regular plungers stay here long term.
45–50°F
For experienced plungers ready for a deeper challenge. Shorter sessions, stronger physiological response, sharper mental clarity afterward. Not better, just different.
You’re allowed to go at your own pace.
