🌀 New Midcoast practice space 🌊
✨"Waldoboro", Maine, unceded Wabanaki land

I've been moving slowly in the saturation of summer, letting emergence take the time it takes. In so many ways, how I move in tending my practice is informed by how I move in practice with other bodies, which is informed by how I move in relationship to my own recovering, knowing body. Which is to say, in all my Aries fire, I've learned to stay in soft listening until movement is authentic.

In my Craniosacral Therapy 1 class with the Upledger Institute, where we learned the foundations of subtle listening in the languages of bone and fluid and fascia, I was given a simple sentence about listening to fascia with our hands that I apply as versatile insight: "if you can't feel anything, apply less pressure"

It seems I'm taking you through a text-based meandering fascia unwinding of a post to tell you, I've come home to the Midcoast to join a group of talented practitioners at the .waldoboro.inn . (So excited to be in the same space as ✨) You can find me there every Monday 11-6, with my evening sessions overlapping with 's nourishing, grounding, delighting Italian dinners. What a dream.

I went to high school in Waldoboro, at a time when to be Q***r meant to get to the sanctuary of Portland as soon as you could. The emergence of Q***r-celebratory spaces in this town is a healing in and of itself, for so many of us. To be able to hold Q***r & Trans-safe bodywork space here is a personal joy and a purposeful practice in the healing of the collective body.

I would love to hold that space for you, or others you know who would benefit from liberation-attuned light touch/deep work bodywork.

Always sliding scale.
60 min: $45-85 or standard $75
90 min: $85-$125 or standard $115

🌕 Tomorrow night: Live practice on Zoom⚡
🌸Yoga Nidra for Collective Care🌸 8pm EST/5pm PST ~donation-based~ $0-44 NOTAFLOF

Translating to "yogic sleep", Yoga Nidra is not Asana (postures). Yoga Nidra is a meditative practice done laying or reclining in complete relaxation, which yokes the brainwaves of deep sleep and wakeful presence, allowing us to gently, consciously touch our subconscious.

As we move in guided meditative practice through the layers of our being - from the physical body to the breath and energy body to the mind and emotions to the archetypal creative subconscious and finally to the enduring bliss within, we are able to gently release restrictions and held habits held in each layer of ourselves. In Yoga Nidra we are able to find greater flexibility and range of motion of our emotions, ingrained responses, and held beliefs, as an internal practice of the liberation we are committed to creating for all beings.

Yoga Nidra for Collective Care is a practice for nervous system care, deep rest and liberatory practice, themed each month with the currents that are moving in the collective body.

This month's practice falls on the full Capricorn moon, as Uranus moves into Gemini. Our practice will support us in feeling the divine flashpoint transformations of Uranus, from deeply rooted center. A practice for grounding lightning, and receiving inspired clarity.

$0-44 sliding scale, this is a practice I hold because I want it to be accessible for all of us. If you want to come, regardless of ability to pay, please do.

Yoga Nidra for Collective Care is a practice to tend our nervous systems, to release held stress and tension from our physical, mental, emotional and archetypal bodies, and to collectively dream into worlds and ways of balance, interdependence, connection with the inherent Sacred, and liberation for all Beings.

I first met the practice of Yoga Nidra in 2015, in the early time of my sobriety. The personal experiences I met in those practices, of relief, of spaciousness around the pressure of my thoughts, of connection with an abiding and loving inner Self who had been there all along, under the layers of illusion I had draped over them, set deep within me the conviction that Yoga Nidra was and is a tool of liberation - beginning with the self and moving outward in our increased capacity to show up, to tend what needs tending, to be with the change that needs our hearts to thrive. This is, of course, not an original thought but is a foundational purpose of the system of yoga.

I trained in the system of Yoga Nidra in 2016 (lineage on my website) and in 2022 I began offering Yoga Nidra for Collective Care as a monthly online practice to offer people a regular, COVID-safe practice of nervous system care and connection. The small regular practice community that has grown and sustained all this time has held me, in life-affirming practice, just as much as I have held the circle.

In the rise of this current regime of violence, as all of our animal bodies and hearts are grieving and rooting into power with a daily diligence of survival and support of those most affected, I have been deepening into a renewed passion for this tool of liberation.

It is each of our task now to use our talents, our voices, our callings and skills toward one collective voice, in the name of collective liberation. I would love to hold you in this practice of care.

Come observe the innermost turn of the wheel of the year, and tend the beginning of the Light, through a community practice of Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra translates to "yogic sleep", and is a meditative practice done laying in rest in complete relaxation. This practice is open and welcome to all.

In Yoga Nidra, we move through progressive trance into the innermost layers of the self. This practice meets us each in the place we are needing care and tending, from support of deep nervous system rest, to an opportunity to find greater freedom in the deeply set patterns of mind, emotion and being. All while held in a guided practice of wonder, beauty, and the sacredness of the divine self.

In this practice we will go on a visual journey to a sacred solstice spiral and instill it with our prayers - for our loved ones, for our community, our world, and ourselves, as we welcome and lovingly tend the beginning of the light.

Yoga Nidra for Collective Care is a monthly practice that aims to support collective resilience through accessible nervous system care, weaving and remembering ancestral themes of spirit, tangible tending of our inner Divine, and liberatory visualization.

Explorations in Alignment: Of Self and of Space: A New Home for my South Portland Practice

As a practitioner of the subtle, all of the modalities I carry hold central to them the same philosophy: returning to our alignment - of spirit, mind, emotions and divine form - is the inner source from which wellness unfolds.

Over the years, in the dual currents of my practitionership and of my own inner work, I have been in emergent exploration of "what is alignment?". Of my own multifaceted wellness, of my always-learning values and ethics, but also: "how does the alignment of the space I practice within, and the values and alignment of the groups and systems that hold those spaces, support all that happens within them?"

Coming into my own embodiment, in my practitionership and personhood, has meant progressively coming out of the dissociative permission for harm that mainstream New Age culture perpetuates. (Thank you to Resmaa Menakem, Tada Hozumi and many others for the language and possibility of Cultural Somatics.) As I have come to embody my own values in practice and personhood further, my need to practice in spaces that hold these same values as integral has become increasingly potentiated.

The choice to move my South Portland practice to a Q***r-run sanctuary space that is explicitly anti-racist, anti-colonial, committed to the conversation of cultural appropriation, COVID safety and liberatory practice as integral to its foundation has been one of existential relief for me, and great joy. .wilkens thank you for creating such a space, I am so excited that you and Ruby Manor are here.

Walking through Door Number One at Ruby Manor feels to me, in so many ways, like a coming home to the kind of belonging that comes from shared values and embodied affinity.

I am so happy to come on as a practitioner here, and to be offering bodywork in the languages of Craniosacral Therapy, Polarity Therapy, traditional Japanese Reiki and my matrilineal practice of Mediumship, the third Wednesday, Thursday Friday of each month. (That's next week for December!) Stay tuned for in-person workshops and gatherings, as I settle in to this holy home.

Yoga Nidra for Collective Care, Equinox Practice, is coming up this Friday, September 6th, at 8pm EST/5pm PST. Here is an excerpt from this month's invitation letter:

"Are you feeling the turn of the season? Here where the sea sparkles at the eastern side-body of unceded Turtle Island, the height and fullness of summer is slowly being called to slow. Constellation Virgo has risen in the sky, and Venus is resting in one of her homes of Libra. A call to spirit, a call to turn inward, a call toward our sacred work, all held within the harmonious resonance of Balance. Balance within our relationships of all kinds, including within ourselves, and a greater balance in the macrocosm of the celestial spheres, as we head toward the time of Equinox. Here we can be held like children, a hand each taken by Sun and Moon, supporting us in finding the balance under our feet, one step at a time.

I am attaching some images that come to me when I think of Balance, and what it is to be held in the alignment of the Divine (our knowing bodies, and the cosmic body that holds us, all one) one step at a time. They are all by the artist Quint Buchholz. The first, titled Giacomoon, I found as a postcard in a local art store many years ago, and have come to it time and time again for faith and inspiration in the Walk. I hope these images hold you well, as we are held in this theme of Balance, a breath and a movement at a time."

If you would like to join us in the live practice container, or if you would like to receive a high quality audio recording of the practice for your use at home throughout this Equinox season, DM me or register here: https://meastarr.as.me/yoganidraforcollectivecare

Sliding scale, $0-$44, offered in the spirit of radically accessible nervous system care for all.

monthly Yoga Nidra for Collective Care practice on Zoom is tomorrow evening 8pm EST/5pm PST! This month we're lucky enough for it to fall on the New Moon!

By donation, Free-$44, come for deep nervous system replenishment in the peak of summer.

An excerpt from this month's practice invitation letter to monthly members is here:

"As we sit in a morning of a day in our dominant culture that celebrates a falsity of ownership, colonization and power, let us be with what is here, resilient, remembering right relationship: here at the edge of the unceded Dawnland, the raspberries are ripening, the ghost pipe is beginning to emerge, and the moon is in their final inward turn before beginning anew tomorrow.

I get extra excited to practice Yoga Nidra in the moments of newness and fullness of the moon - these peaks in the tide that pulls at the shared, interconnected water of our bodies. And tomorrow's new moon is in Cancer; a watery, homeward pull.

Our practice will reflect the microcosm of this movement we are collectively held in, as our walk in our Vijnanamaya Kosha (archetypal visualization), ever-inward through the labyrinth of an iridescent sea shell; brilliant and knowing in its spiralic expression of universal truth. The inward walk, to the very center of ourselves, to touch what is ever-enduring, and to carry that knowing with us outward into our active worlds of summer light."

If you'd like to join us (a recording of the practice for home practice is included when you register) you can do so here:

It's Pride Month, and Yoga Nidra for Collective Care is tomorrow night on Zoom (8pm EST/5pm PST)❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Donation-based ($0-$44) and all levels (there's no movement involved, just laying in relaxation and listening to a guided mental practice), this one is for us Q***rs. This month's practice is an opportunity to have a direct experience with all of the fractal facets of the beautiful self that you are, and the core self at their origin, so that we can all each live with more authenticity, more freedom and more joy.

(Truly, it's for everyone, as everyone benefits from the liberatory practice of realizing their beauty, but, I like to do an extra Q***r practice each June)

Here's the invitation letter for this month's practice. For folks who can't make it to the live practice, an audio recording of the practice itself is sent for home practice for everyone who registers. To join us or receive the recording, please register here: https://meastarr.as.me/yoganidraforcollectivecare

"Dear ones,

It is a new moon and everything is in Gemini. The twins - dual realities - both true. In this time there is an unfathomable degree of suffering and the worst of the human condition, played out in unending and unthinkable violence. In this time, the flowers bloom and the ruby throated hummingbirds zip to and fro in their embodied seasonal return; pollinators and plants in a hum of generative interdependence.

Tonight, I go to my high school to advocate for keeping protections for Q***r and Trans students, remembering so acutely the fear I experienced there, and the messages I internalized about my own inferiority as a Q***r/Trans human being. Tomorrow night, I'll hold this practice - Yoga Nidra, always a practice of meeting those samskaras - those held beliefs/habits - where they live in us, and finding more truth, more love, more liberatory bliss in their dispersal from where we carry them.

But this month, especially, Pride month, that's what this practice is for. However we access the journey to realizing the radical beauty of our true nature, whether that be through Q***rness, Transness, or any other place of facing societal illusion of "less than" and removing it from the root, we are all doing the yogic work of remembering the divine Truth of ourselves.

This month's practice will be one of witnessing, with love and reverence, all of our intricate, beautiful fractals of self, and, at the very center of every expression, the source center from which they emerge. From this place of remembering, we can release held beliefs that serve to restrict us in the full expression of our true natures. And then move that in the world - a little freer, a little bit more embodying of our unique and holy truth."

I hope you'll join us, or send this to someone who you think may benefit from being with us in practice.

Big love to you all, and Happy Pride
