The Center for Public Health Education (CPHE) is a Local Performance Site (LPS) of the NY/NJ AETC located at Stony Brook University. This grant’s mission is to provide training opportunities and clinical consultations to health care clinicians working with people living with HIV in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties. This program is able to provide a whole host of specialized trainings. Partnership for Health: A Brief Safer S*x Intervention in Clinics Serving HIV+ Patients
The Partnership for Health intervention facilitates the delivery of prevention messages to people living with HIV as part of every clinic visit. The training to prepare a clinic to implement the Partnership for Health intervention is delivered on-site at your clinic. If a primary care clinic that serves HIV+ clients is interested in learning more about this intervention, the clinic manager should review the Partnership for Health Start-Up Kit at http://effectiveinterventions.org/en/Interventions/PfH.aspx. CPHE is also a Regional Training Center and a Center of Expertise in HIV Case Management for the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute. The Center provides a diverse menu of more than 25 curricula on various topics and how they affect and/or are related to HIV/AIDS. Some examples are: Basic Domestic Violence, NYS HIV Confidentiality Law, Building Bridges to Cultural Competency, Integrating Viral Hepatitis Into Your Work, Mental Health Services and HIV Testing courses. As a Regional Training Center and a NY/NJ AIDS Education and Training Center, many CPHE training courses are accepted towards meeting the training hours for CMEs and CEUs and for Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) for credentialing.
