A running assessment isn’t just about watching form.

It’s about understanding how movement, strength, and training load interact.

This video shows a few pieces of that process, including single-leg balance, single leg squat, single leg bridge, and running analysis.

Each piece helps identify why something keeps showing up and what to do next.

Sessions like this are focused on clarity, not just observation.

At 20 weeks pregnant, my training has shifted, not stopped.

I’m finally getting back to feeling up to working out again, but the approach looks different.

I’m paying closer attention to what feels good, adjusting load and intensity, and prioritizing consistency over pushing limits.

The goal isn’t to force it, it’s to keep moving in a way that makes sense for where I’m at.

This is the same approach I take with the people I work with, training should evolve with your current capacity.

Starting something new can feel uncertain, especially if you’re not sure what to expect.

My approach is built around understanding your goals, assessing movement, and creating a plan that fits your training, not pulling you out of it.

The goal isn’t just to feel better, but to move forward with clarity.

Not every issue starts as pain.

Many runners and active adults notice subtle changes first, such as tightness, imbalance, or patterns that don’t feel quite right.

Addressing these early is often what prevents bigger setbacks later.

This is exactly what I look at during movement assessments and initial evaluations.

Returning to running after injury requires more than just waiting for pain to settle. The body needs to rebuild tolerance to repeated impact before full running volume returns.

This video demonstrates hop progressions performed with upper extremity support to help control load and build confidence with impact.

The next progression is performing the same drills without arm support before advancing further through the return-to-run sequence.

These drills are one component of the evidence-based Return to Run program developed by Ohio State Sports Medicine. The full protocol can be found through Ohio State Sports Wexner Medical Center.

Running analysis provides information, not labels.

It helps identify patterns that may influence stress, efficiency, or recurring symptoms.

But it’s only meaningful when paired with training history, symptoms, and goals.

Context matters more than perfection.

I recently completed Level 1 certification in 2D Running Analysis through RunDNA.

This training focuses on understanding how movement patterns, load, and training history interact, particularly in endurance athletes.

Running analysis isn’t about chasing a “perfect stride.”
It’s about identifying patterns that may contribute to recurring stress and knowing when those patterns actually matter.

Continuing education helps me refine how I assess, guide, and progress runners safely back to consistent training.

Strength isn’t just about adding weight.

Tempo, control, and progression determine whether an exercise actually transfers to real movement.

This is one example of how small adjustments build long-term resilience.

One of the most common questions I hear is whether it’s okay to train through discomfort.

The answer isn’t always yes, and it isn’t always no.

What matters most is how symptoms respond over time and whether tolerance is improving.

This is where individualized guidance makes a difference.

One of the most frustrating parts of recovery or return to training is feeling like you’re “doing everything right” but progress still feels slow.

Strength, coordination, and tolerance adapt on different timelines, which can make progress harder to recognize in the moment.

Looking at patterns over time often tells a more accurate story than any single day.
