I would like to thank everyone who came out to support us at our 7th Annual Alexa's Walk for Breast Cancer!!!! The weather was beautiful. I have to share a story though. I was walking around helping where help was needed and a young mother came up to me wanting to buy tickets for the Chinese auction. I did not recognize her so I asked her how she found out about the walk. She went on to say that her and her husband just happened to be there walking their dog and their 5 month old baby in a stroller. I thanked them for stopping in and I started learning more of their "story". Come to find out that that beautiful little baby girl, with a head full of dark hair was just diagnosed in July with leukemia! I looked in at her and she just smiled so big as I started talking to her. She had a tube in her nose and I could see little bruises on her hands that I assume were from IV's at some point. They said that normally they would walk past something such as our walk and think "oh that's nice that they are doing that" and continue to walk on. They no longer can do that because of the amazing organizations that have helped them so much already in this short amount of time! They feel the need to give back! As they went over to place their tickets in the buckets, I had to go around the side of the building because I just couldn't hold back the tears! Tears are rolling as I type this! My lesson through this day was don't just "walk past"! You never know when you may make the biggest difference in the smallest of lives and in the biggest of ways!!!! Did we raise a lot of money that day? Not nearly as much as the years past but ya know what? The precious amount that we did raise is blessed by God above and we will use that money to try to make a difference in someone special who may be fighting breast cancer. It may not be a lot but it is...enough!
