Strong doesn’t disappear in a week… it adapts.
Took almost a full week off lifting while we’ve been in Colorado, more hiking, more riding, more just being in it. And honestly? I feel strong.
Here’s the thing about deloads: your body doesn’t only recover when you schedule it in a perfect little training plan. Sometimes it happens organically, through travel, adventure, a shift in focus. That doesn’t mean you’re “falling off,” it means you’re absorbing the work.
I don’t always plan deload weeks for myself because my lifestyle builds them in, camping, hiking, backpacking, yoga… it all creates natural waves of stress and recovery. But with clients, I help guide that alignment when needed, especially if life isn’t already giving them those resets.
If you’re someone who lives for active vacations (Tahoe people, I see you 👀), you might already be doing this better than you think.
Train hard. Recover well. Go live your life.
And maybe plan the kind of adventures that make your body stronger in ways the gym can’t.
