Malachi’s birth story 💙🙏🏻✨
Prodromol labor began during week 37. Cramping would start and stop throughout the day. It would only last 20 minutes to an hour and then I would go about my day.

At 39 + 2 I woke up with cramping at 7am. They were low grade but continuous. Come 10 am they had not slowed at all and I knew it was the real deal this time.

At 4:45pm I let my midwife know cramping had progressed to contractions and were ranging anywhere from 6-21 minutes apart. I knew we still had awhile to go but I wanted to get on her radar. At 8pm I decided to go to sleep assuming things were going to pick up soon, I wanted to be rested. Contractions continued to increase in intensity but they were averaging 15 minutes apart. I was able to fall asleep and sleep through the night.

At one point I prayed a simple prayer - “Jesus please hurry this up”. He was QUICK to answer.

Things I would tell you if I wasn’t scared of hurting your feelings: 🫣 *infant edition*

❌ your newborn holding their head up does not mean they are strong
➡️ it means they have too much tension and are in fight or flight

❌ your child very likely doesn’t have a dairy intolerance
➡️ they likely have lumbar and sacral dysfunction and/or poor microbiome

❌ the American Pediatric Association and WHO, years ago urged pediatricians to stop putting infants on reflux meds
➡️ the #1 side effect of these meds is fussiness 😳 and they have never been safety tested in this population

❌ reflux RARELY is your infants problem
➡️ the symptoms are usually from thoracic tension putting too much strain on the nerves that control their sphincter

❌ p**ping small amounts 10x in one day is still constipation
➡️ we want big p**ps. Small p**ps that never end mean they can’t efficiently get it all out

❌ a colic diagnosis means nothing.
➡️ it means they cry… great. But why are they crying? Let’s figure it out together.

I’m pretty honest with my patients… so if you are under care you have probably heard all of these.

Why does it matter?
Their health matters. Their symptoms matter. Their development matters. Getting to a resolution matters.

These diagnoses don’t give answers. They often leave the parents feeling like they should give up and tough it out.

Your nervous system controls everything!
Chiropractic doesn’t mask symptoms, it helps the body function in the way it was intended.

Good ole Piriformis muscle ✨

A very important stabilizer of the pelvis, and also a very common producer of pain.

The sciatica nerve does one of three things:
1. Runs under the piriformis muscle
2. Runs through the piriformis muscle
3. Runs over the piriformis muscle

Surprise! Our anatomy can differ from one another.

Regardless of exact location, a tight piriformis = an unhappy sciatic nerve. Aka sciatica.

Balancing the sacrum, relaxing the piriformis muscle, and releasing the sacrotuberous ligament are all equally important in helping pregnant women (or anyone!) decrease this pain.

Pain during pregnancy may be common, but it doesn’t have to be your normal mama.

At Growing Families Chiropractic we are trained to balance the muscles, joints, and ligaments of the pelvis. This technique is known as Webster Technique.

Webster Technique can be extremely beneficial in decreasing round ligament pain, low back pain, pelvic pain, and it also has been shown to secondarily optimize babies position.

When the pelvis in which baby resides is well balanced, baby has the ability to innately get into the most optimal position for labor.

I will always be true to who I am on this page and I have been meaning to share these for quite some time! 💜💜🙏🏻

Two years and 3 months ago I completely surrendered myself to Jesus. I gave up the perception of control over my life and my family’s life. I jumped head first into a love so real and so pure it has completely changed me, for the better.

This past November I made the statement of publicly announcing my dedication to Christ and my salvation by being Baptized at our church.

It has not all been sunshine and rainbows. This is a journey of constant refining of myself to live a life led by Holy Spirit. When pain and struggles arise, instead of trying to put all of the pieces together and rush through to the end goal - I look to Jesus.
