It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Soudabeh Ghasemlou, on January 10, 2025, at the age of 82.
Mom was the cornerstone of our family, a kind soul whose warmth, love, and funny sense of humor brought joy to everyone she met. Her quick wit and ability to make us laugh, even in the toughest moments, were gifts that we will treasure forever.
A woman of great intellect and education, Mom followed her passion for photography after finishing college, becoming a professional photographer. Her work earned her several prestigious awards, and she went on to break new ground in journalism, making history as the first female journalist to interview Jackie Kennedy during her visit to Iran. Her photographs and articles continue to be featured in well-known international journals, leaving behind an enduring legacy.
Outside of her professional life, Mom had a deep love for art, poetry, antiques, and music. These passions brought her joy and creative fulfillment, reflecting the beauty she saw in the world around her.
While Mom excelled in her professional life, her greatest joy was her family. She made the selfless decision to step away from her career to devote herself fully to raising her children, always offering love, support, and guidance. The foundation she built through her sacrifices is something we will forever be grateful for.
For nearly a decade, Mom fought bravely through numerous medical challenges. Despite the difficult prognosis, she lived life to the fullest, surrounded by her loved ones and grandchildren. Throughout this journey, she was supported by her devoted husband, Darioush, who became her full-time caregiver. His tireless love, commitment, and dedication were a true testament to their bond.
It has been my honor to care for her in return for all the sacrifices she made for us. Mom will always be remembered for her strength, love, and the legacy she leaves behind. ❤️
