Happy Earth Day! Here is a little slice of heaven on earth looking down from the sky above. This photo was taken last spring and we are so blessed to be here 1 full year at the end of this week.

It feels like it has been an eternity even though not barely yet a year as our journey has been so profound in many ways unwinding into a deep sense of home.

Our deep love of the earth is so prominent here at our home. From developing the biggest garden we have ever had to having so many spaces to experience our land, this slice of earth is such a powerful gift in our lives.

We honor the earth elements here, all the nature spirits, the folks who once inhabited this land long ago before folks settled in here, and we honor the folks who did lots of work before we arrived to make this place what it is becoming today.

Thank you for this land, we pray that we may be the best possible stewards of this place and honor this co-creative partnership we have been cultivating with the earth here. Thank you sweet mother earth for all that you provide for us every day, a home, food to sustain us, and so much beauty to take in!

These sweet morning doves came to visit us while we were sitting at our Altar doing our weekly ritual last monday. We sit at the altar every monday to ground in our prayers and set intentions for the week before we begin our business meeting. This mating pair of doves started cooing right outside the window where we were praying and has visited us multiple times this week at Rose Light Sanctuary.

We love seeing animals in nature and took this visitation to be a wonderful sign for the week ahead. Morning doves have a gentle feminine energy and remind me to be gentle with myself and with life. Their song is so soothing and calms my nervous system and reminds me to breathe and be present.

My beloved is also an amazing photographer as you can see from the quality of these last posts and he just got a new macro lense for taking up close and personal pictures of all the magickal earthen treasures coming to life at this time here at Rose Light Sanctuary.

These are the crocuses in full bloom with some mystical morning dew on their petals.
So exquisite to witness this color occurring in nature!

These photos sum up the vibe here at Rose Light Sanctuary this week, spring is here and about to burst open though the tightly contained buds of many of the plants on the land.

These two photos feature forsythia and red maple, both of which will most likely begin blossoming by the end of this week, especially if this beautiful warm sunny spring weather continues the way it has been going.

I love this time of year so much as it truly reminds us of the rebirth that happens after the cold dark winter. It almost seems as if this time will never arrive in the deepest parts of winter but alas just like the sun light returns after the rain, the earth sings her song of beauty and awakening every year.

I love flowers and buds are such a special and fleeting moment of the cycle of blossoming with so much promise for potential and expansion. I like to imagine the potential for this spring and summer season all bound up in these first buds of spring and once they open up, the blooms will continue throughout and I might not be as tuned in to the buds to come so I cherish these early spring blossoms.

What buds are visible where you live?

This last week leading up to the eclipse was all about release and transformation here at Rose Light Sanctuary. We were finishing up lots of loose ends on the kitchen and trying to get stuff organized and cleaned up after 6 straight months of renovations here on the land.

After pruning the apple trees and all the wind storms of the winter that brought limbs down around the property, we have lots of brush to burn. Getting the fire lit up has felt so rejuvenating here as we clean up and burn the old to make room for the new.

This fire pit has been such a blessing here on our land since we first arrived and has continued to nourish our souls and get us into the spirit of ceremony every time we light it up. The fire spirit is such a powerful medicine for transformation and can help bring clarity and focus when its time to honor letting go of the past and rebirthing new iterations of self.

The Eclipse was awesome here at Rose Light Sanctuary, although it was about 2 hours out of the line of totality, it was still so fun to watch and experience on our land.

We had our own personal ceremony to honor the shadows dissolving into the light and to release and give death to outdated aspects of ourselves we are ready to expand beyond.

We had our copal burning and the songs and drum going to honor this beautiful celestial event that brought so many people outside to connect with the heavens above.

It was awesome to get to see the light changing and the shadows lengthening as the peak moment of eclipse came.

We even got to have a magickal moment tuning in with the song of the spring peepers (frogs) who decided to begin their first day of the season singing as the eclipse began, then got completely silent during the peak and then started up again as the moon passed over the sun.

It was quite the day to commune with the earth and the heavens and to be humbled by the immensity of this universe and all of the movements happening each moment of this life.

Hope everyone is feeling the blessings of this beautiful eclipse!

Its finally finished at last!!! Trevor yet again has far exceeded any of my expectations of making this Communal Kitchen Space pristine! This space was just a shed nestled between two buildings with plywood floors and one of the walls was even the exterior siding of another building and now it is a genuine space with so much potential.

We were blessed enough to inherit Trevor's parents old kitchen from their recent remodel and some beautiful furniture from my Mom's recent house sale. We are so grateful for the support of our families and all the amazing folks in our lives who have been so generous with us as we build this dream.

We are excited to see what beautiful memories get created in this shared kitchen space that adjoins our Forest Temple Event Space. Hopefully many beautiful meals are prepared and enjoyed here in the future. I will share more updates once we get it even more decorated and finished.

Thanks Karen Batchelder and Chris Cohen

Garden photos are going to keep coming as the measure of progress and the movement forward of the season can be so exciting. What's happening over here this week has been very outdoor focused as the weather is warming and the plants and birds are truly awakening from their slumber.

I photographed these daffodils 2 weeks ago and they have already doubled in size, their blooming time is rapidly approaching which really marks the beginning of the succession of blooms that will continue into the summer. I transplanted and separated a huge clump of purple Iris's to join the daffodils which will be so beautiful as one ends and fades back, the other will begin its time to shine.

Had some last minute transplants that i popped in late in the season that got moved around this week including a beautiful trumpet vine and a 3rd year hops plant that I am hoping to train all over the little seed potting shed to create some shade in their for the summer.

Hand tilling the garden for growing expansion continues as we got another load of seaweed from the beach this week and will continue to lay paper and seaweed for this area where all the annual veggies will go.

Its a busy month ahead!

Its Apple Tree Pruning day over here at Rose Light Sanctuary! We were blessed to inherit over 10 very established and productive apple trees here on our land that gave us many amazing last fall. These old gals have not been pruned or tended to for years though so they need a lot of care and attention moving forward.

We are just learning about fruit tree pruning, mostly from our amazing neighbors Toby & Sam Klein of Run Water Farm who have so much amazing experience and wisdom to share about tending to plants and organic farming techniques.

Trevor got a special blade for his saw and was very conservative about how much to take off each tree as the recommended pruning ratios are to only take off 10-25% of the tree with each pruning. This means it will take us many years to get these ladies pruned up to where they should be to sustain a healthy and productive yield of good looking apples.

Its exciting to us to be able to inherit these amazing trees that give us so much food and teach us a lot about abundance and prosperity. These trees GIVE so unconditionally and they always have enough to share, in fact they inspire sharing!
Last year I made countless Gluten Free Sourdough Apple Cider Loaves which called for apple cider and shredded apple.

This year we hope to borrow an apple cider press and make our own, maybe we will have a little harvest party and invite folks to participate

Last weeks magick here at Rose Light Sanctuary included a redesign of our home multimedia studio where we record music, video, audio, and where Trevor works his tech wizardry.

We have begun recording guided meditations, sound healing tracks, my new music album, videos and audio for youtube and podcast channel!

Trevor repurposed some beautiful dark barn wood that was in the communal kitchen before the renovation to hide our oil burner chimney which this awesome vibe in the room and more walls to decorate and highlight our amazing indoor plants!

The start of spring has ignited our inspiration for creation and all pistons are firing here in that department which is so excited!

Stay tuned as we share more.
