Grief can bring conflicting feelings especially at holiday time, but the holidays can still be a time of connection and meaning. Intentional self care, planning ahead, being flexible with traditions, and incorporating rituals to honor loved ones can help.

You’re invited to join a statewide card-writing campaign to bring joy and cheer to older adults this holiday season!

Each card is a small act of kindness that can make a big difference. Please include a short and sweet handwritten message inside—something warm, encouraging, or festive.

To participate, send your handcrafted cards by December 8, 2025 to:

Anvoi Hospice was proud to participate in Leadership Los Alamos -Health & Wellbeing Through Community Service, guided by experts Nicole Scotto of Anvoi Hospice, and Chaplains Leah Blackwell and Ken Hendrix of LAVNS, explored the topics on end-of-life care and emotional support.

During National Home Care & Hospice Month, we recognize the people who bring care and comfort home to New Mexicans every day.

In addition to medical support, home care and hospice professionals offer dignity, connection, and compassion to aging adults and families when it matters most. Their work ensures that New Mexicans can remain where they most want to be: safe, supported, and cared for in their own homes.

This November, we extend our deepest gratitude to the caregivers and professionals who embody what it means to serve with heart.

The New Mexico Association for Home & Hospice Care recently honored professionals in hospice and palliative care at their Staff Awards. We are beyond excited that Anvoi’s own Nicole Scotto received the Nurse of the Year award for the state of New Mexico!

Nicole’s exceptional nursing care goes above and beyond the call of duty. A dedicated hospice nurse for ten years, she believes that one of the most meaningful aspects of our work is devoting as much time as each patient and family caregiver needs. For Nicole, hospice care is not one-size-fits-all. Her compassion and dedication shine through her service and leadership.
In the Taos community, Nicole works tirelessly to provide education about hospice and to build partnerships with local organizations like Strong at Heart and the Taos Downtown Strategy. She leads her clinical team by example, encouraging them to stay engaged in the communities they serve. On weekends, you’ll often find her at the farmers market or volunteering with the Veterans Off Grid program, strengthening relationships with patients and their families outside of traditional care settings.

Nicole’s passion for hospice care is truly inspiring. Through her dedication to patients, families, students, and her colleagues, she creates a positive care environment everywhere she goes.
