Dove had little horse zoomies today prior to our visit. She kept teasing the dogs that she was out front and they weren't lol.

We are finally out and about again. Visited South Mountain Lexington Life Academy today. The kids were sooo excited to see Dove and Beauty again. I just love our horses and their different personalities. Beauty just loves interacting with the kids. She sniffs their clothes and pockets, but she is especially intrigued with the girls dresses. She loves to sniff and look at the ruffles and sparkles. She is also a ham. Whenever they took pictures she looked right at the camera lol. Dove also loves the kids but she stands so quietly and relaxed she almost falls asleep 😴. We passed out valentines to each of the kids. ❤❤❤. Can't wait to visit again!

One of the ways we help get our horses ready for visits is to take them on all sorts of outings. Because horses are prey animals they have that flight or fight instinct that kicks in if they feel frightened or threatened. By introducing them to all sorts of different experiences they learn to trust their handlers and that the world is not such a scary place. This creates a horse that is confident and calm in all sorts of situations which is ideal for the types of visits we make. On this outing we visited the White Tanks for a short hike. The horses were initially a little hesitant to meet a large weird shaped rock, but as you can see, with a little encouragement and patience they soon learned it was not so scary. They also met knew people, watched people walked by with dogs that didn't know what to think, saw some deer in the distance, and had bicyclists zoom by. (the rock was by far the "scariest" thing to them).

Good afternoon all! Our little Molly is as big around as she is tall ❤. She came over and just rested her head in my lap and arm yesterday and let me give her tons of scritch scratches on her back and neck. I can tell she's quite tired of carrying this heavy little load.

Hello everyone! I fell a little behind on posts due to feeling a little under the weather. I will be sure to update and post pictures of our very pregnant little Molly tomorrow. (no mini molly yet). Today we took CJ out to Tractor Supply and he was a huge hit. We love taking our horses there because they encounter all sorts of new scents, colors, and people. CJ absolutely loved saying hi to everyone. He is an excellent addition to our program. If you know of anyone in a care facility who would like a visit please have that facility reach out to us so we can schedule a time!

Over the next few days we are going to share with you a few of the ways we desensitize our horses to ensure they are accustomed to and ready for all sorts of situations.
We introduce new items and scenarios slowly and move at the horses' own pace.
I wasn't sure how our newest team member would react to the blower but CJ took right to it and insisted on putting his mouth on it so it puffed out his cheeks. He does this EVERY time we blow him out. 🤣 This boy is such a character!

We are so excited to announce, that much to our surprise (and her previous owners), that our little Molly is having a baby! Her previous owner told us that the dad is a 26 inch tall stud named Ryder. Because Molly is only 28 inches this baby is likely to be very tiny ❤. Dad is also a therapy horse so I'm hoping this little one inherits some of the calm, good-natured demeanor it takes to become a therapy horse. Our veterinarian believes Molly is in her last trimester and maybe even in her last month. The down side to this is that Molly is officially on maternity leave so she won't be able to visit the kids she adores so much. We will be sure to shower her with lots of extra love and attention though! 'sminimini

Friday we visited the younger students at Lexington Life Academy! They were so excited to meet Molly and Dove! Molly and Dove didn't even mind the sirens from the Phoenix Fire station right next door.

Some of you may have seen this video on my personal page but I thought I'd play it again. The horses get a good blowout, a wash, another blowout to dry them and of course a nice pedicure (feet are thoroughly cleaned). We will be going through this process prior to our visit with our younger set of students at Lexington Life Academy in Maryvale tomorrow. Can't wait to visit with them!

Friday October 22nd was our first ever visit as the Courageous Calvary! Our little horses encourage students to be their best self by standing up against bullying! We teach skills that promote empathy, compassion, and cooperation among the students. The kids really enjoyed their visit with our minis, Molly and Dove!
