Sussex County CLEAR Program

Sussex County CLEAR Program The Sussex County C.L.E.A.R. Program offers free recovery coaching, improved access to treatment, and family support for people with addiction.

Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery

Bridging the gap between addiction and recovery, law enforcement and the recovery community, The Sussex County C.L.E.A.R. Program offers community members seeking help for substance use disorder the opportunity to walk into a participating police department to start their journey to recovery by getting paired with a trained Recovery Coach. Our mission

is to form a collaborative network of professionals in our community who will facilitate medical intervention, improved access to treatment and recovery support for those struggling with drug addiction who seek assistance, without fear of arrest or prosecution, in order to make a positive difference in the quality of life for individuals, families and our entire community. The Sussex County CLEAR Program is managed by the Center for Prevention & Counseling, Inc.

Prevention works.

Alcohol Awareness Month is an important opportunity to highlight the positive impact of the effectiveness of underage drinking prevention.

To learn of all of the programs CFPC is offering to help prevent underage alcohol use in our community, please visit our website www.centerforprevention.org, or contact our Director of Prevention Services, Ashley Caine. Also, check out and become involved with our Coalitions for Healthy and Safe Families and our Wallkill Valley Community Coalition at Our Coalitions – The Center for Prevention & Counseling and learn how you can help the youth in our community stay alcohol-free.

As a parent or caregiver, it’s important to stay informed about the risks for underage drinking. Check out the “Talk. They Hear You Campaign” on SAMHSA’s website. This campaign will help you start—and keep up—the conversation about the dangers of drinking alcohol and using other drugs at a young age.

Open conversations and awareness can help prevent and address alcohol use.

Ten years ago today, March 11, 2016, Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery (CLEAR) held a press conference to officially announce the program to the public.

Through the C.L.E.A.R. Program, the county built a collaborative network of community professionals dedicated to medical intervention, improving access to treatment, and strengthening recovery support services. The goal was to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder.

Since its official start in 2016, CLEAR has connected individuals affected by substance use to The Center for Prevention & Counseling for peer recovery coaching, treatment options, Narcan and harm reduction resources, and family support services.

In its first year alone, 147 individuals reached out to CLEAR for information or assistance. Of those, 46 individuals with substance use disorder were connected to a Peer Recovery Coach and 35 were supported in accessing treatment.

As we mark this 10-year milestone, we are deeply grateful for the continued partnership and dedication of Atlantic Health Newton Medical Center, Newton Police (NJ) , the County of Sussex, Sussex County Police Chiefs Association, Sussex County Prosecutor's Office, Town of Newton, and The Center for Prevention & Counseling.

Our community came together today to learn a how to administer Narcan. 💗

During this Narcan training, the Hampton Girl Scout Troop 97152 learned how to spot the signs of an overdose and how to respond quickly and safely. Every person who learns how to use Narcan becomes part of a larger network of people ready to step in and help when it matters most.

Thank you to Katie for guiding the training and continuing to share this important, lifesaving knowledge with our community.
