Gratitude is a positive emotion that involves acknowledging and appreciating the good things in our lives. When we express gratitude, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, two important neurotransmitters that regulate our moods and emotions. These chemicals can help us feel happier, more content, and less stressed.

Throughout the week, the Nourish Your Soul team will be sharing what they are grateful for and ways gratitude helps us physically, mentally, and emotionally. 💛

More than 720,000 lives across the world are lost to su***de each year, around one death every 40 seconds. These deaths are able to be prevented if we are open to having compassionate conversations about su***de.

The theme of "Changing the Narrative" is for us to be open to these discussions, challenging myths related to mental health, and having this develop an environment where those struggling feel willing to speak up about their struggles and seek help.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please feel free to reach out for support. You can call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline - available 24/7.

Let's be kind, open, and supportive for those who are struggling 💚

A rainbow baby is a baby born or adopted after the loss of a child either in pregnancy or after birth. The significance in this symbolism lies in the fact that there is not a rainbow without a storm, the storm is essential to the creation of a rainbow. It is a depiction of the sometimes long and heavy road of pregnancy after loss filled with numerous emotions of sorrow, anxiety, grief and also hope and joy. Today we are celebrating all of the rainbow babies, those who came before them, and their parents journeys.🌈 💛

There are many emotions that can come with going back to school whether that be anxiety, excitement, sadness, etc. We wanted to share a few tips with you all to hopefully help in this transition! 🍎

1. Set realistic goals - Try breaking up larger goals into small manageable steps. Let go of comparing thinking you "should" be able to do more and celebrate the successes no matter how small they may seem.
2. Prioritize self-care - Taking care of our bodies helps us take care of our minds. Try your best to prioritize eating balanced and sleeping balanced along with doing things you enjoy.
3. Gratitude - Consistent gratitude has shown to decrease stress and anxiety, better our physical health, as well as strengthen our relationships. It shifts our focus from comparison to what we have being enough.
4. Establish a routine - Try and set regular sleep/wake times as well as designate time to study and for self-care.
5. Stay connected - Isolation can negatively impact our mental health. Do your best to intentionally make time for connection!

None of these things are black and white meaning building new habits takes time and it is not a failure if you are not doing them consistently every day. 1% more each week counts!

Happy school year! 💛
