For social work month we asked our therapist Jena in Waupaca what led her to the field.
"I’ve always believed that people are so much more than the circumstances they’re living in.
That belief led me straight to Social Work.
Our stories are shaped by families, communities, systems, opportunities, and hardships — but none of those things fully define who we are. Social work allows us to step back and look at the bigger picture. It helps us understand how systems impact each of us differently while still honoring that every person carries their own identity, strengths, and lived experience.
For me, this work has always been about connection and empowerment. Sitting with people in their real lives, hearing their stories, and helping them reconnect with their own voice and direction.
I don’t believe people need to be “fixed.” I believe people need spaces where they are seen, understood, and supported as whole human beings, that’s the kind of work that will always matter to me. That's what I believe Social Work was meant for 🤍."
We are so grateful to have you Jena!
