Kristi Williams Started her HCHD career on 10/24/2005 as a Processing Assistant IV with duties of Health Check Coordinator and Medication Assistant Program Assistant, which required her Pharmacy Technician credentials. Another responsibility Kristi took on later in her career was WIC Administrative Support, and she ended her career as the HCHD front desk receptionist. During her 20 year tenure, Kristi was called upon to fill in gaps and pick up auxiliary duties that were supportive to various disciplines within the agency, which she handled with grace and perseverance.

Kristi enjoyed camaraderie with her co-workers. Many times she was the center of laughter and good stories. She has been known for “telling it like it is” while also being sensitive to others feelings. No one could ever doubt her love for her family. She has always talked about them with much love, and it is obvious they are the light of her life. In fact, her retirement plans involve spending more time with her grandchildren, making memories and enjoying their very presence. We wish you well, Kristi!

Hugh Watson Started his HCHD career in April 1992 as the HCHD “Sanitarian” which is now referred to as an Environmental Health Specialist. Hugh had a Bachelor of Science-Wildlife Biology degree from NC State University, but he also had backbone, passion for Hyde residents, and dedication. His charge to grow and maintain environmental health in the county, i.e. septic tanks, wells, restaurant inspections, (just to name a few) has not always been easy. Most people are not aware of the stringent rules that must be followed related to our soil. Suffice it to say, Hugh, with the support of many folks, was able to navigate the challenges with integrity, passion, and dedication. It should be noted that Hugh actually retired from HCHD on December 31, 2012. However, he loved us so much and wanted to serve Hyde County enough that he came back to work on a part-time basis on February 1, 2013. This time, his retirement is final (so he says).

On a personal level, Hugh is a successful and demanded taxidermist. His work is known far and wide. He has also been married to his wife, Barbara, for many years, and they enjoy each other, their church family, and traveling together immensely. It is likely Hugh’s retirement will be filled with all of this. We wish you well, Hugh!
